All hail the folk supergroup!

I love it when a plan comes together...

Yesterday I had an awesome rehearsal with two of the guys in my band. Our name is Kristin Kronwall and the Mookey Ooks or something. Norm, the accordion player (Yes, I have an accordion player in my band. Tot hott.)came up with it. Michael, the guy with a giant gray Afro plays guitar, and Emma plays the fiddle. We're doing a few folk songs, a Patti Griffin cover (let's hope I'm not breaching copyright), and a rockin' accordion/guitar/fiddle cover of Stevie Wonder's Superstition. One of the regulars at Sandy Bell's said we sound like the weirdest arrangement he's ever heard. I'm hoping our blend of accordion/guitar/fiddle/American classically trained soprano doing folk-rock covers will give us an edge over the competition. I've spoken to some people and it looks like our first big break will come in April, possibly opening for Martin Carthy. (This is quite a bigwig in the folk scene) Then we all met up at the Tiq for a session and rocked the house yet again. Stayed up til 6am talking to Michael and this really cool chick from Germany who plays the bodhran (Celtic drum that sits on your knee). Fucking love this life.

Love, Kristin
