Women in the early days of the Industrial Revolution tended to be associated with domestic duties, such as rearing children, household management, and food preparation. Some women found themselves jobs, though they were very poorly paid and usually unskilled cottage industries. Men became associated with money and leadership, and the children were brought up learning these conformities of society. Because the early Industrial Revolution began in the textile industry, many women found jobs starting in the stages of production in factories.
