some guitar thoughts
I'm currently torn between three guitar styles.
The first is obviously my classic style. I suppose I got it from Nirvana, but it's more simple, more metal. Pure power chords and distortion, lots of harmonics, lots of palm muting. Actually, I have no idea where this style came from, it seems to be an amalgam of everything I've been into. It's loud, lots of highs and lows, few mids. It's the sound and playing on 90% of my work. The occasional creeper riff as well.
The second idea is the Deron Miller thing. Lose a few strings, more bass, more single notes, creeper to the max. Octave pedal would add so much to this, but I fear being derivative. Well, too much so. Lots of three string creeper riffs, maybe some Big Muff.
The third is so far a fantasy, but I want to do it. It's the Joachim/Tabata high end thing. I figure it's light strings, moderate distortion, lots of high string work, harmonics, bends, I don't even know. It's a lovely style and I have no clue how to pull it off. But I'm dying to mess with it.
