Oh my gosh! I still can't believe it! I log in to LJ to find out from my game show comrades,
Mike/
hmtriplecrown and
Jamie/
jollyantix, that the voice of Price Is Right for the past 20 or so years after Johnny Olson's passing,
Rod Roddy is gone ;_;! Like Mike said, it seems so surreal. I can't remember where I first heard Roddy's voice, but I most remember him for his stint on Hit Man, one of my all time favorite game shows. Later, he paired up with Peter Tomarken again for Press Your Luck while doing Price Is Right just after Olson's passing. Ever since, Roddy has been the voice behind the mike at Price Is Right. He even became an on camera personality on the show with his flamboyant sequined suits which were his trademark.
Roddy even got the chance to lend his voice to Disney's House of Mouse as Mike, the announcer for the club who would introduce Mickey Mouse as well as go through a bunch of fun 'mock' product credits for the show. The writers or Roddy himself even cleverly hinted Mike's real identity for one episode where Mike 'accidentally' calls Mickey Bob (Barker).
I still can't believe it --;! This is one of the most horrendous years I've ever experienced in terms of losses and just overall cruel circumstances O~O! Well, at least we just have 2 months to go, right?! DAMN YOU 2003!
