"My OB/GYN didn't do an ultrasound, but she did do some 'invasive' tissue sampling which really really HURT ;(!"
WTF? Why?? o.O Dude...the first thing the doctors did was schedule an ultrasound so they could see what was going on. Did they do a normal pelvic exam? I went to my mother's doctor first when I was having the psycho periods from hell, and he was awesome. Too bad he doesn't accept medicare. :/
"The sample she got came back negative for anything weird."
Of course it did. They SHOULD have done a pelvic exam, blood tests to see how your hormone levels and what not were, and a friggin' ultrasound. There was no reason to put you through that much pain. x_X
"She did mention it might be cysts or something, but the only way to examine that was to do the whole scraping examination thing X(!"
Your doctor is fucking full of shit. They don't have to scrape you to see what's going on in there, hell, they only need to do a fucking ULTRASOUND! It's painless if goopy. It sounds like this idiot is trying to make you into a guinea pig or an insurance cash cow. ;p For your own sake, not just for the useless pain and extra cost, but for your health as well, I'd definitely seek out another doctor. She is most definitely full of shit.
"Right now, I thought the least painful thing for me to try was the birth control pill thing, which is what I've been doing for the past month. My period has still been acting weird though even after a month of pills =/."
Like I said, get a new doctor...one whose immediate reaction is to do a pelvic exam, blood tests and ultrasound. There is no reason to have to scrape you or cause you that much pain. -_-
I'm on the Yaz stuff because of the weirdo PPMD like crap I've been getting and to make the tumor easier to work with. She was afraid that it might twist around and cut off blood flow to my right ovary. o.O She said to get me to the hospital IMMEDIATELY if I started having pain in my right side so they could go ahead and remove it. :/ But she said that she thought I might have endometriosis, hence the horrific pain and heavy bleeding. She said she'd do the burning thing if that continued to be a problem. I said I was definitely interested. XD
"Good luck with getting things done while your crazed mom is away >8D! Hopefully, you'll be out by the time you get back!"
She won't be gone till Friday, after that it should be relatively easy to get things done. I just hope that the people who are supposed to help me don't flake out on me like they have in the past. -_-
My sister, the doctor in residency, said the same thing about my OB/GYN's lack of ultrasound use too --;. I can't remember if she asked or wanted to do an ultrasound, but my sister said as an ER doctor, that's the very first thing they do when someone comes in complaining of vaginal bleeding. With what you said and what my sister said today, despite the fact that I thought this OB/GYN doctor was nice, I'll make an appointment next week for an ultrasound with another doctor.
The scraping part was just her suggestion as an antidote to my excessive bleeding problem ;b. Actually, what she did to me the other day could have been a pelvic exam, but I forgot what she called it. All I know was that it was more painful than a pap smear X(!
