HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEN/CRZYD!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TIM!

I hope you both get plenty of cake, ice cream, and presents all around! Any birthday wishes? If so please post here! Jen/CrzyD/crzydemona, what's your barbell size, 18 or 16 gauge? I have no idea what that is too --;, but I MUST KNOW!

The Junk Bonanza was AWESOME fun 8D! It was like a combination antiques show and Etsy art show using antiques or junk! Since I love both, I had a blast! There were a lot of typewriter, Scrabble, and bottlecap themed jewelry items. Since I had already bought a custom typewriter bracelet on eBay awhile back, I wasn't swayed to buy any of those, but I did end up buying a few Scrabble and bottlecap items including a Scrabble S-tile cellphone charm, a Scrabble placard that says GO FIGURE on it, and an Orange Crush bottlecap keychain. I wanted to buy the placard that said GO AWAY on it, but I figured that wouldn't sit well in the office where my DAD is the boss ;b! As far as antiques go, I bought a small cup and a small patriotic themed handwoven basket that wasn't made in China either XD! There are initials and numbers handwritten on the bottom of the basket, so it looks like it might have been made by some artisan. It thought it looks cute with a red and blue with white stars woven threads in it. I'll have to remember to go again next year!

Sigh, in case anyone is wondering, the They Might Be Giants concert at Target's Children's Book Festival Saturday was canceled because of RAIN at the last minute 8(! I got there around 2:30 p.m. only to find all the performances for the afternoon crossed out by red Target masking tape. The performances earlier in the day went on, but it just got wetter and rainier as the day went on. It was pouring by the time They Might Be Giants were supposed to perform, and the organizers thought it would be best to cancel fearing the electrical equipment wouldn't mix too well with the rain --;. They Might Be Giants and the other performers left after they were told of the cancellation, so I never even got to see them. The only people that stayed for signings were the authors.

Despite the rain, there was quite a big turnout for the event with lots of families and kids wearing raincoats, carrying umbrellas, or using Target's free poncho thingy which were out by the time I got there. They didn't seem discouraged by the rain whatsoever. Kids were still doing activities in the crafts tents, looking through books, meeting authors, etc.. Some of the activities were canceled though, so there wasn't really much to do besides a few things though. I picked up a free magnet and pencils at the Walker Art Center booth which was surprisingly empty compared to the other tents, and I left ;b. I spent a total of maybe 10 minutes at the festival.

It wasn't much better Sunday either at the Centennial Lakes' Fall into the Arts Fair, but I managed to do a complete round of the fair despite the rain with my old college classmate, Kris. We had fun despite the rain which went on-and-off during the entire day, and we got to see tons of art! We started the fair with some yummy strudels found only at this one exclusive food vendor! Kris got a savory veggie strudel filled with roasted peppers, spinach, artichokes, and cheese! I got a sweet strudel with chocolate, bananas, and walnuts topped with cinnamon ice cream! We split both, so we each got to taste both strudels X9!

I saw a few artists I had seen in earlier art fairs of the year, and we both bought way too much stuff ;b. I have scans of them, but it looks like my puny gallery's website host is down at the moment. I notice it's been down since yesterday, so I have no idea when it will be back up. I bought a few small flat glass ornaments to hang in my office cubicle along with glass wind chimes, a colorful dangly, a bead ring, and 2 cheap fish purses from one of those Pier 1 type vendors. Kris was extremely SQUEE excited by an aurora photographer's booth which even had photographs of an aurora event that she actually saw when she went to Poker Flats, AK, for a rocket launch experiment! She bought the postcard set of that particular event that he had along with a beautiful exciting magnetic storm framed print that's just bursting with screaming auroras that are just waiting to kidnap you and take you away with them to the sky according to Inuit legend! Kris and the photographer had a nice long discussion about magnetic storms, their causes, and the research she was doing with them. They were both in aurora geek heaven XD! Kris also found some beautiful hats and a fancy purse at the fair that make her look simply marvelous! The rain didn't dampen our fun whatsoever, but I must admit that the occasional heavy rain ladened tents which suddenly gave way unexpectedly while we were inside or near them did cause some teeny surprising scares for us and the artists ^^;!
