LJ format question =/.

I haven't changed the format of my LJ in years now, and I would like to update its look. My main reason for not choosing another format though is the date thing for each post. So far, all the other formats I've seen just post the date of an entry and not the actual day (i.e. Monday, Tuesday, etc.) as this old format does. Is there any new format that includes the day as well as the date of the post as this simple format does? If not, is there a way to customize the format to include such things? I have ZERO knowledge about customization, so any help would be greatly appreciated ^^;.

P.S. EDIT: Bah, I'm still confused ;_;!
