HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
ROSEMARY!
I hope you get plenty of cake, ice cream, and presents all around! I just ordered something for you via Amazon today because I wanted to wait and see what you already picked up for yourself this week ;)!
purrsia has graciously offered to help me setup a petition on her website for a
Thundercats official soundtrack, woohoo! After 7-8 years alone in this, I finally have a partner in crime! I need to write an intro that 'briefly' describes the petition's goals itself without rambling too long like my entry about it Xb! I know long entries tend to kill attention spans, so I need to make it short and sweet. I've never written anything like this ever, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Heck, I don't even know how to start this thing O~O!
Hello, fellow Thundercats fans! I'm here to petition for your help and voice in convincing Warner Bros., the owners of the Thundercats license, into releasing an official soundtrack CD for the TV series! The background music was one of the main reasons I instantly fell in love with the series when it first premiered. The music, composed by Bernard Hoffer, was so dynamic and expressive, and at the time, quite revolutionary for employing a full orchestra to play it. [SPLICED FROM MY BIG POST] Each Thundercat, vehicle, bad guy, etc. had his or her own special theme song associated with his or her appearance on the screen. The themes were short, but catchy and addictive. I always suspected there was more to each theme, but the series never showcased more than maybe a 30 second snippet of each. There was ONE episode that hinted that each theme was longer than what we were used to hearing. It was the episode where each Thundercat had a portable camera to showcase each of their talents. Instead of looping the usual 30 second snippet, we got to hear more of each theme music Bernie had composed. I've been in love with that music since I first heard it when the show was new back in the 80s.
One day in 1998 or 1999, on a whim, I tried to see if I could locate Bernie himself via the net. I found an address and wrote to him a typical fan letter about his music and asked if he had copies of the complete music tracks which I could obtain from him. A few months later, I got a reply from Bernie himself saying he would be more than happy to make a copy of what he had. I was pretty ecstatic to get the tapes he sent me. Each complete music theme brought tears to my eyes. Yeah, I know it sounds sappy, but I had been waiting for 2 decades to hear them in their complete form.[END SPLICE]
Since this exchange, I've wanted to share this with every Thundercat fan in the world, legally, licensed, and as profitable for Bernie. I've been trying by myself for the past 7-8 years through various channels into getting Warner Bros. into releasing such a soundtrack. Things looked hopeful when DC Wildstorm made several Thundercats comic book miniseries and later when Warner Bros. released the series on DVD. However, despite all the good sales, Warner still decided or had not thought about releasing an official soundtrack for the show. With talks of an upcoming CGI movie based on Thundercats, I'm hoping I can get other fans into coming out and supporting such a soundtrack release. If you loved the show and music as much as I have, plase show your support and sign this petition! Thank you for reading.
Okay, it's still too long, AUGH! I wonder if I should mention all the Transformers Movie soundtracks from the 80s that have been released as well? ACK! HELP 8(!
P.S. EDIT: Aug 9th: Revised some stupid grammatical mistakes I missed and cut for length a bit --;! Thanks,
