I'm so behind o~o!

Jul 03, 2006 19:00

Aye, I'm so behind o~O! I think I will probably be the lone sap person who is still typing about this year's Gathering since everyone else I know has already finished their reports --;. I should just shorten the reports maybe.

This is probably my weirdest work week ever though. Yes, our office is still up and running on MONDAY, but we get TUESDAY off ;b! We then get to go back to work on WEDNESDAY, woohoo X(! I spent most of the weekend and lunchtime today helping my sister with her wedding invitations at Kinko's. I came back to the office Friday evening at 9:00 p.m. to see if I could make her map more sharp. The Kid HATES our 15 year old HP inkjet printer, plus she HATES the fact that it's a Mac. The old HP inkjet printer doesn't have the sharpest resolution in the world anymore as it did back in 1992, so the Kid wanted me to see if I could re-print out the map on our office's laser printer. Unfortunately, after 6 hours of trying with the office's very pathetic graphic's program, Microsoft PAINT, I couldn't do it. I ended up just going back home at 3:30 p.m. and re-doing the map on my old computer at home with some modifications like darkening the street lines for sharper resolution and physically cutting and pasting our office's laser printout of the text to the map and then making a master laser copy from that at Kinko's. Stupid incompatible computers >X(! The Kid was FINALLY satisfied with the final map (or she was too frustrated with the incompatibility of the office PC with our Mac). Most of the invitations for family members have all been sent out as of today, whew!

I also got 2 very interesting e-mails from eBay about my one-way communication situation with their e-mail forwarding system =/. YES, it's NOT supposed to be this way, and there is currently some BUG in their system affecting me and several other users as well! At last, a NON-form answer reply! eBay asked for more details concerning the errors I got, so I e-mailed them back with more specifics. Coincidentally, when I tried bringing up said errors again though, MY E-MAILS WENT THROUGH, I think o-O! Someone on their end must have fixed whatever was stuck with my account. However, I could only e-mail the other end IF I did NOT hide my e-mail address from them even if they hid them from me first XP! Now I'm just wondering if my e-mails actually went through to the other end since I have yet to receive replies from that side. It could just be because of the holiday, so we'll see what happens Wednesday =/.

Now, while I work on my second report, here are some more questions from Joe/gameshowman!

  1. Am I to understand that you're going to be here in the So-Cal area in the near future? For AnimeExpo here in Anaheim I take it? (If so, a meeting at the local coffee shop may be in order.)

Oops, you just missed me then XP! I WAS out in Southern CA from Jun 23-26 for The Gathering, but I was stuck in the Valencia area since I had no car while I was there. Maybe next time ^^;? I have tons of relatives in CA, so I do go there quite regularly ;)!

  2. Okay...I checked out your DVD wish lists...what's with the Arthur obsession?

I take it you only check out my Amazon DVD wishlist, right? My main DVD wishlist is on DVD Aficionado. The Amazon one has tons of Arthur DVDs listed because DVD Aficionado doesn't have them listed in their database yet. I don't think Arthur and other PBS kid DVDs are a top priority for new entries in their system. The Amazon DVD wishlist is my short alternate list for DVDs I want that aren't listed in DVD Aficionado's database, so it's very Arthur lopsided ;b! I like Arthur though, and I have recorded most of them on videotape in EP/6 hour mode. I just would like DVD replacements of them someday maybe ;). As you can see, they are pretty low priority on my DVD wishlist too, so I'm not really that obsessed with Arthur.

  3. I also noticed a few John Williams CDs on there. Any favorite Williams scores?

Oy, now that's a tough question O~O! Almost anything John Williams scores is an instant favorite for me soundtrack wise. 3 that really stick in my mind though are Shindler's List, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and The Witches of Eastwick. Itzhak Perlman's solo on Shindler's List is so poignant to hear. The finale to Close Encounters of the Third Kind was the most amazing piece of music I've ever heard illustrated in such graphic form o-O! I played those 5 tones over and over again in various keys on the keyboard and viola when I was a kid. It also helped me remember how a 5th tone separation sounded like (i.e. the last 2 notes). As for The Witches of Eastwick, I just love those short staccato notes the make up the main theme ^^;!

  4. And for that matter, do you have any other favorite film music composers?

Oy o-O, I also love the works of Henry Mancini, Bill Conti, John Debney, Richard and Robert Sherman, Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, Elton John, and, of course, BARRY MANILOW! The last bunch mainly come from animated movies since I'm a big animation fan 8}! I guess you could lump Mancini in there since The Pink Panther was a regular score I heard during all the Pink Panther cartoons I watched ;)!

  5. Which character on Frasier is your favorite?

Even though I think both Crane brothers are very funny and cute, I think I like their dad, Martin Crane, the best on the show and his little dog, Eddie, who just died recently ;(! Unlike his sons, dad is always down to Earth, realistic, and extremely smart. I guess his sons get their personalities from mom XD!

  6. BONUS Did you know that the original Inspector Gadget (the first 26 episodes) is out on DVD?

Yup! Shout! has acquired rights to DIC's library, including The Mario Brothers Super Show, The Legend of Zelda, and Where on Earth Is Carmen Sandiego? which I just bought recently ;)! I'm considering buying Sabrina: The Animated Series when Shout! releases it.

I have one more round from Chuck/sport6449 for later!

dvds, interviews, the gathering, dreamtracks, tv, conventions, memes, computers
