I finally caught up on all the back log of entries on my
friends list earlier today, so I guess I can finally blog myself ^^;. I had the rare opportunity to geek out with
Rosemary/
roseangelo and
Chandra/
rous near the end of last week at
Source. We mainly discussed Doctor Who stuff which was probably the reason that motivated me to scan in my bought Doctor autographed chase cards earlier this week ;b. I mentioned in Rosemary's and Chandra's LJs that I'm thoroughly enjoying the new Doctor Who series on Sci-Fi Channel and the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccelson, the 'coolest' Doctor of the bunch so far. I already know what happens at the end of the season, so no need to worry about spoilers for me. I like spoilers anyway ;)!
The past weekend was oven baking HOT 8(! Temperatures were in the high 90°s F with a heat index at 100°+ F. I tried hiding in movie theaters watching The DaVinci Code and X-Men 3 the following day, but the theaters weren't cold enough for me --;. I was still sweating even in there! My body needs to be kept with refrigerated or frozen food for optimum comfort. I liked both movies despite the reviews (NO SPOILERS AHEAD!). The DaVinci Code was just like National Treasure except with more murders and deaths (and no corny Nicolas Cage) ;b. I think I enjoyed the movie more than people who read the book beforehand since it made for more surprising plot twists. X-Men 3 was okay despite all the discrepancies in comic continuity, characters, etc.. Kelsey Grammar made for an excellent Hank McCoy/Beast! Now that was perfect casting! Mom, a non-comic book geek, enjoyed it. With so many universes running around in the comic book universe, I don't think I had many problems with the differences. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that the movie tried to squeeze 2 different plots into 1. As a result, both plots never got enough air time to fully develop well. I thought it would have been better if the movie only featured 1 of the 2 plot lines instead of both together =/. My sister/the Kid, who watched X-Men 3 on opening day, thought so as well.
As for the highly anticipated Game$show Marathon series on CBS, I'm slightly disappointed with what I've seen so far --;. The sets are fantastic and incredibly accurate 8D, but Rikki Lake is no game show host --;, which was made painfully obvious on The Price Is Right Wednesday premiere. She's definitely not Bob Barker. All I thought during the entire broadcast was, "Where's Bob 8(?!" I think the series would have been more fun if the producers had gotten the original hosts, that are still alive of course, for each show to host their show. The pacing was a bit slow and awkward, especially with the D-list celebrity contestants (Hee hee ^-^, Lance Bass of *NSTINK is now a D-list celebrity!). Each hour show was basically a half hour game show plus LOTS of padding for game rules for the series and home players, celebrity introductions and the charities they're playing for, old short random clips, and scenes from previous and upcoming shows in the series. I liked tonight's Let's Make a Deal episode better than Wednesday's The Price Is Right episode though. Maybe I'm just getting used to 'their' format or something ;b. I guess I'll see next week.
The rest of this week has been devoted to computer junk at work and hiding inside the office's AC. If it's not TOO hot this weekend, I would like to hit the
Edina Art Fair though. The
Uptown Art Fair has been a bit disappointing, and HOT weather wise, the last few years. It has shrunken by at least 1/3 since I first started going, and it just doesn't seem worth the parking, crowds, and heat anymore. I'll see though around August if I change my mind ;)!
