Anime Detour days 2 and 3 plus Monday o-O!
Well, it was a doozy of a weekend O~O, complicated by the fact that none of us (ME in particular) were really organized for MN's first ever cel collectors meeting! I spent 3-4 hours Saturday morning cutting my show cel books in half again, but I still ended up with 4 cel books --; with Card Captor Sakura and Sailor Moon occupying almost 1 cel book each. I wanted to go to the convention earlier in the day, but my family had other plans XP. We went to Evergreen for lunch/brunch for a good old Taiwanese breakfast consisting of hot soy milk with fried donut-like croutons, green onions, sesame oil, soy sauce, and a touch of vinegar. I've missed eating those since my last trip to Taiwan. I WAS supposed to go after lunch, but I ended up lingering a bit too long --;! By the time I was done, it was already 4:30 p.m.! I tried calling Karen/Xelloss to tell her I would try and meet up with she and oion later at the Megamall at 6:00 p.m., which we discussed Friday night. Since it was only a 30 minute drive from my home to the Megamall, I figured I could catch a little nap in the meantime -_-zzz!
To my horror though, I woke up at 5:30 p.m. exactly X(! It took me 10 minutes to gather my stuff together and head out to the Megamall. Despite the light traffic, I still made it within a half hour, or 6:10 p.m.. I had a very vague description of Karen and Oion, and they had no idea what I looked like, so when I got to Legoland, I was lost in a sea of people @~@! I walked around Legoland for about 20 minutes or so hoping Karen and Oion might still be around, but after streams of dark haired people with overcoats walked by, I figured the best thing for me to do was go back to the convention and wait for them in the lobby and hope I recognize them --;! When I got to the hotel, the dealer room had closed already o-o to my surprise. Curt of Asylum Anime, who was also supposed to meet with us to drool over each other's cels, told me the previous night that he would be busy in the dealer room until 8:00 p.m., and that it would be best for us all to meet around 9:00 p.m.. I thought I saw Curt walk out of the locked dealer's room along with a bunch of guys from Source, but I wasn't sure since I just glanced at his back. I figured we would meet up later, so I asked Chaz of Source if he had seen Karen earlier and if he could give me a better description of her. The best description he could give me was that Karen was a little taller than me and had HAIR o-O! One of the other guys gave a better description with the length and color of Karen's hair ;b, but that was about it.
I hoped and figured Karen and Oion would come back to the convention hall through the front door, so I sat in the lobby entrance and waited. Just in case, I even made a little sign with my name on it to flash in front of people, but I didn't want to look like a dork --;! After an hour or so of seeing cosplayers and families walk by, I spy 2 people carrying large shopping bags. I had seen a lot of people pass with large shopping bags, but one person in this pair also had a bag of cotton candy O-O! Karen told me Friday night that she was looking forward to going to the Megamall to get some cotton candy, so I followed them to a table just outside the dealer room and asked if either of them were Karen or Oion. I hit the jackpot XD! I'm just thankful Karen did get some cotton candy ^^;! Now, Karen and Oion also know what my ugly mug looks like though too --;! Each of them brought one cel book, while I still had 4 cel books in the car ;P! I was so ashamed I couldn't cut my junk down any further ;_;! After retrieving my HEAVY 4 cel books from the car (Yeah, yeah, Oion, I know --;!) and plopping them down on the table, we decided to start rummaging each other's cel books while waiting for Curt to join us ^^;! I must say, NOTHING compares to seeing a cel in person versus online! I was in awe of Oion's Tenchi Muyo OVA cels 8D which I've seen online in her gallery for the past 3-4 years as well as Karen's amazing Slayers collection! Thanks to Oion, I finally got to see some elusive Kodacha/Child's Toy cels O-O! I think I've only seen 1 or 2 online in my entire collecting history, so it was definitely a treat to see! Karen brought one of her Xelloss eyecatch cels as well as a cel which she meticulously re-inked by hand, with a separate sheet of acetate, the fading outlines o-O! Karen's Martina cel was both beautiful yet terrifying o~O! It was definitely mesmerizing @-@! Every once in awhile, a crowd gathered around us to, "Oooo!" and, "Ahhh!" at our cels too ^^;!
After one look over and maybe a couple more just to go BLAAAARGH drool over, we talked about things I never thought I would ever utter vocally before like Curt, Yann, Nick, Sato, Rinkya, Celga, Taro, etc. ;_;! Beforehand, I had only typed those words out, but to hear them live, spoken by other people who KNOW what I was talking about, was just surreal 8}! It was so beautiful, sniffle ;)! Yeah, yeah, I'm a sap --;! We spent the rest of our time people watching the cosplayers walking back and forth and back and forth aimlessly along the hallway corridors o-o! The one we were most impressed with was this HUGE Ryo-ohki plushy cosplayer! It looked like one of the Ryo-ohki astronauts from Tenchi in Tokyo! What we couldn't figure out was how the person inside could see or breathe though =/. We did this until 10:30 p.m., hoping that Curt would show up, but he didn't --;! We tried calling Curt's room around 10:00 p.m., but he was out apparently. Yeah, we didn't coordinate this very well. It was getting late, so we decided to 'close' our meeting and leave for the night. There's always next year, I guess, right ^^;?
I finally got approval from my insurance company for repairing my car's face on Friday. Guess what? Abra calls me at 7:00 a.m. in the morning to tell me the good news after avoiding calling me for the past several days XP! I should have just waited for the Abra guy to call me himself when the money came down! Typical ;b! I also got an estimate for my VCR's repair yesterday, so hopefully, it will be done soon too.
I still have my cold, I think, but it could be my allergies acting up too. Now all I need is some ice cream, and I'll be one happy person today ^^;!
