Noooooooooooooooo Reservations

Matt is off on guy weekend and the house feels doubly strange and empty as I haven't been here in nearly a month. To ward off the nervous jitterys, I've been watching old episodes of No Reservations, as I adore Anthony Bordain and will read or watch anything he's involved with.

Whenever I think of Mr. Bordain, I think veal bones. Probably because everything he writes involves the phrase "veal bones" at some point, particularly the phrase "roast your veal bones" so today I decided to do just that. A while back veal bones were on sale for like, .99 cents a pound and I bought some and froze them to make stock out of. Today is stock day, were I am making both veal and vegetable stock from scratch to freeze for later use. Previous stocks include chicken and seafood, but since my freezer is only so large, and at any given time is 25% ice (we drink a lot of cocktails) 25% frozen veg, 10% misc other things and 40% frozen stock, I considered it the epitome of restraint that I'm only making 8 gallons of stock today.

On the plus side, the house smells of wonderful roasting veg and bones. On the down side, it's like 85 effing degrees and humid as hale.
