pre-big east update
okay, hi journal. i promise to stop neglecting you now that theater's over.
semester recap so far:
antigone ruled. every show i've worked on so far here has been so different - sophomore slump was fun because it was short, crass, and an absolute shitshow, urinetown was just three months of cast resiliency leading to serious bonding... but i think i was strangely most proud of antigone, and i can't quite put my finger on why, but maybe just because it's the first non-gimmicky show i was in. regardless, it was a blast... or as much of a blast as a miserable tragedy could be.
then i played drums for natsu onoda's "swimmy and other stories". i don't want to talk about that one. people liked it. that says enough. but i really don't want to hear another compliment about it unless it's coupled with about six for antigone.
and now my GEORGETOWN HOYAS. jesus fucking christ. they're ranked 9th in the coaches and AP poll currently - this will almost definitely be the first season we end the season in the top 10 in literally two decades, i believe. not to mention we, oh yeah, WON THE REGULAR SEASON BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP outright by beating the uconnvicts on saturday (something we hadn't done since '97) and coupled with pitt losing at marquette. to top that off, JEFF GREEN WAS ANNOUNCED TO BE BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE YEAR LAST NIGHT. yeah. i'm going tomorrow with the band to madison square garden for the big east tournament for GEORGETOWN VS. VILLANOVA III. watch it at noon on ESPN when my dear hoyas run wild in NYC.
to top that off, naturally jeff hooked me up with umphrey's new album about a month before it's actually coming out (although i did already preorder it from their site, so i don't even feel guilty) - it's absolutely absurd. i'm going on an umph conversion route this summer.
speaking of summer... i'm staying down in dc, holler. i was just home for the weekend, and despite it being fun - i promise i'd put a bullet directly in my skull if i had to stay there all summer. i'll probably be back a few times, but i'm also (hopefully) making some trips to connecticut, so you shitballs are going to have to come visit me too. seriously.
