How much does it cost?!

My son has been asking me if I would buy a car that cost $100K if it ran on air. Now I was a bit dismissive at first, but when he asks seemingly off the wall questions like that he usually has seen something somewhere or read something. So I decided to ask the great Internets if there is such a car. And lo the heavens parted the the message was delivered. It seems here http://www.theaircar.com/ they have a car that runs on air. Well kind of. It runs on compressed air, that is compressed by an electric pump which needs to be recharged every so often (I seem to recall around every 50 miles or so). So the car really runs on electricity.

So he wasn't so off base. I read another article where the author was trying to break down the costs of a car that ran on air and cost $100K. So if JB had heard or read somewhere about that article, then I can see where he got the idea for his question.

The debate between my young son and myself went along these lines. He asked if I would buy a car that cost $100K and ran on air. I said that I would not, that $100K was too much for a car and that even if I purchased the worlds worse gas guzzler, that I would not pay $100K for the car and the gas over 10 years (my estimate in how long a car would/should last). That it would not be worth the expense to buy a car just because it ran on air. And he exclaimed that the car would run on air and that there would not be any pollution and that there would be no gas used and that that would be better for the environment and worth the expense. o_0. I hadn't seen that coming. I thought he was trying to be all analytical about the cost savings having to do with the gas prices. I hadn't realized that I had a budding environmentalist in my home. Not that I am complaining, I am not. As a matter of fact I am pretty impressed with him and his attitude. I was just a bit surprised.
