So first week back of the summer term, and man have I been busy.
My first break all week came today after lunch. Monday class started at 8, so I took the first hour to do some ASB business, so I started at 7. I had a lunch meeting with the Dir of the SHC and an after school meeting with my clinician. And I had another hour of ASB to do after class. Done around 6. Tue thru Fri classes start at 7, and this term the professors are a bit touchy about the whole attendance issue, so no coming in late, no skipping class, and no leaving early. Tue had a lunch meeting with my clinician and had ASB work after class to prep for the ASB meeting on Wed. Done around 6. Wednesday we had a ASB meeting during lunch and I had clean up work after class. Done around 7. I came home and crashed, first night I was in bed before 12 all week. Thur I had a club meeting during lunch and had a free hour after lunch, Yeah finally a free hour. No ASB work after class either, well not any that HAD to get done, some that needed to get done though (Still not home before 9). Friday looks to be a chill day. I have 3 hours of class in the AM, a meeting with a professor in the afternoon, a meeting with my clinician in the afternoon and then the schools BBQ in the evening (that I am helping with). Won't be home before 8 I am sure. Long day, but I have lots of breaks. I will need them to get some studying done and some paperwork done for the clinic.
Wow what a week. Not all of them will be this busy this term, but if this is a taste of the next 12 months, I will be one very busy Doc-wanna-be.
And on top of it all, this is the term that our education changes from book=learning to clinic-learning. As Dr. P put it "the integration quarter" or the quarter that we have to start putting all this learning to use. I have heard about the same thing, in different ways, from at least 3 different professors this week. It looks like it will be fun and finally a bit of what we are all here for, but the transition will be challenging just the same.
