9:47am. Phone rings. "I don't mean to scare you, but there was a near fatal accident last night." Heart racing faster than a space rocket. "Everything is ok, but I ask you to go to Philly."

That was by far the scariest phone call I had ever received. For that split second, the only words that sounded clear was near fatal, and I thought my sister was a vegtable. To think that life can be gone so fast, well, its a scary thought. We all know that we are not immortal, and everyone will die, but this was the first time it really hit home.

I saw the damage to the car, and I don't know how Diana was able to be up an walking like she was. To say she is lucky to walk away with a few cuts and cruises is beyondan understatement. Her driver's side was all smashed in; the door was in her lap from the impact, and the side mirror went sailing through the window, hitting her shoulder and shattering into a thousand pieces, and then landing in the back seat.
Thankfully she had the foresence to dive into her roomates lap who was sitting in the passanger seat. If it wasn't for that he face would still be on the guys front bumper. When I drove her to the impound where her car was, the tow-truck driver asked me if she was the driver. I told him that she was, and he asked me how she was able to walk around. He thought for sure the driver would have still been in the hospital from the accident, especially with all the blood in the car.

Now, I don't really believe in fate, however, it is odd at the things that happen. When Diana was hit, her roomates boyfriend happened to be driving by, saw the fl plates, and ran out to help Diana and Megan (roomate). Megan was telling me how she was pinching Kevin (the boyfriend) because she didn't think he was real. Suppossedly he wasn't gonna go to the airport that way, but he decided to take that route for some reason. makes me wonder if there was someone telling him to go that way for a reason, or if it was all just chance.

I think we believe what we want to believe, to make ourselves comfortable with events in life. For me, I know it makes me feel better to think that there was a reason Diana was able to walk out of the crash practically unharmed, and that her friend was there to help them out. Maybe she was being protected by Grandma Figs, I dunno. I know that I am grateful I still have my big sis to annoy.

Regardless, I still feel that we have the powers to make our own destiny, and we are in control of the decisions we make. But every now and again, I think it's possible that we do have guidance from an outside force, whatever it may be.
