Well, here it is nearly 8 months after I was "laid off" and I still have no job. The job postings I have found are either 1) ridiculous in their scope and their wanted amount of experience or 2) free labor (internship, get experience type postings) or 3) lets hire someone who will do it for part-time and for beer money.
I still have the possibility of working with the start comic book company, which I think I would absolutely love, but the start-up factor means not knowing when (or if) it'll ever go full-time.
In the meantime, Dad's prospects for a new job (he's two months now unemployed) dwindled down from about 10 possible resumes out to one - a church in 29 Palms. Lets just say it's where folks should drive to dump dead bodies in the desert. It's an hour away from Palm Springs (which would then be the closest airport). After going to see Iron Man 2 we checked to see where the closest movie house was... it was Palm Springs. An hour to drive to see a movie!
Just when the last other job lead dried up, another church (this one in the mountains) that we thought was over with reconsidered and so now it's a choice between a very tiny (8,000 people-ish) town in the mountains or this church in the desert. Neither of which has a Starbucks in the town.
I swear God is laughing.
If I had a full-time job this wouldn't be so worrisome for me personally, but since I don't (and couldn't afford a new place) I'll probably have to move with them until I *did* find a full-time job.
I tell you one thing, life with me is *never* boring.
