"Santa isn't real Willow... it's physically impossible for one man to travel around the world in one night. How many people are there in the world?'
"6 billion mother."
"Exactly, and how would one man travel that quickly around the world and deliver presents to 6 billion people?"
"Magic?"
There was a long sigh. "No Willow, magic is not scientific and reasonable. You're too old to believe in such flights of fancy."
The in-depth discussion over the reality of Santa was then interrupted by Mr. Rosenberg bringing home the candles for the menora. "Shelia, I can't believe you forgot these again."
It was the annual family holiday of who could blame the other the most logically. The fight would probably last a good 30 minutes if Willow didn't say something.
"Uh, mom. If magic isn't possible, then miracles aren't possible either right?"
"Correct."
"And if miracles aren't possible than why do we celebrate Hanukkah?"
Mr. Rosenberg grinned wickedly. He knew where Willow's logic was headed. Mrs. Rosenberg, did not.
"Because it's a traditional celebration from our culture..." She started. "But I've said this before, what are you saying?"
"Well isn't the whole holiday based on a miracle? They didn't have enough oil for the temple lights, and it lasted eight nights. Hence Hanukkah."
It was probably the first and last time WIllow had EVER seen her mom speechless. And that just made her world a little brighter.
