I just realized that it's been almost two months since I posted anything. Ah.. the excitement that is my life. I did have quite a fun weekend, though. First, I just have to say.... GODDAMN PAPELBON!!! And that's all I have to say about that. There's always next year, right?
I went to see my favorite band, Great Big Sea (represented in the userpic), for the 6th time on Friday night. For those of you who don't know who they are, you should really check them out. They are SOOO much fun. Kinda hard to describe their style of music. They're out of Newfoundland and play a kind of mix of Celtic, folk, rock and local sea chanty. Their cds are great but they are absolutely phenomenal in concert. You can't help but get up and dance. And I have to say that their fans are some of the friendliest I have ever met. When you go to a GBS concert, there are whole families that go to see them. And the guys seem to genuinely have fun with each other and the audience. I urge you to go to www.greatbigsea.com and check them out.
So, we went to see them at the Portsmouth Music Hall. It's a great old, small theatre. Great place to see a show. There's really not a bad seat in the house. Well... we'd been there a couple of years ago and they've renovated since we'd been there last. It's... um... well.. okay, it's weird! When you walk in there is a sunken bar that's made to look like it's under water. I can understand the water theme... I mean, it IS Portsmouth.. but they couldn't really decide whether it was underwater, or outside. So, there were vid screens showing upcoming shows that were framed by portholes, but next to them were big trees that stretched from floor to ceiling. Walking into the ladies room was another experience altogether. It was like walking into a grotto. It was actually great fun just watching people's reactions. It was really very strange.
Anyway, that was the biggest excitement in my life for a while. And I'm definitely getting old, because being out all day walking around Portsmouth, then going to the show and driving back to MA to get home around 12:30am was exhausting! I was tired all of Saturday! How sad is that??
Oh, I had to bite the bullet and turn the heat on too. Usually I can make it til November, but it was cold over the weekend! And it's supposed to get even colder the rest of the week... hopefully it'll stop raining. Although, I guess I can't really complain. It's ice in Colorado where my cousin is and snow in Minnesota where my brother is. Crazy weather. I'm telling you... it's all the signs of the apocalypse. Beware!!
