Her smile reminds me of Nichols in beauty and brilliance. And I liked her in the clip. She's very different and she's a competent actress. I hope she does her own thing because for me, now, she's Uhura2.0.
Just, you know.
(Her face and body are so pretty and yet so wrong for Uhura, you know?)
Uhura's supposed to make everybody a little bit stupid when they look at her. She's supposed to be too much, too hot to handle, remote, serene, warm, inviting, with features that you've seen so many times before but in an intriguing and flawless way.
Some of what. Being as slim as a dancing flame is stirring too, though. I think, it's the emphasis on skinny as the only kind of beautiful that does my head in and, I think, different builds invoke different thoughts/impressions/easthetics.
I hope I'm not being nitpicky, just, I think thinness is womanly and gorgeous too. But, that which is...well, graceful and liquid, like a blade of grass and not gaunt, needy, hollow, *knobby*.
But, then, that's me. Um. I'm shut up now. Sorry!
It's just that I think there are skinny women who are womanly and gorgeous but it's gauntness and lack that are ick, to me. :/ Sorry.
And then there's those of us who got tapped top and bottom and the attention that comes our/their way. A premium's not placed on it in the mainstream for true.
I really don't want to diss the lovely Miss Saldana. So many ways to be beautiful but I did not associate model-perfect-body Miss Saldana as well, yeah embodied enough to play Uhura. Guess Salli Richardson is way too old for a Starfleet Academy style adventure team.
I was referring to mainstream media, not in "real life" because "real life" I've seen some...hills and valleys that have people stopping to admire the view.
And I'm not dissing Saldana either. I'm not a trekkie, but I eye you FIRMLY for making me hit up YouTube this weekend and...Saldana has some ridiculously huge shoes to fill based on looks alone, although I think Saldana is (obviously) attractive herself.

Uhura2.0 looks like... She looks lean.

I'm thinking about Esther Baxter for one and prima ballerina Misty Copeland for another.
