Canon Character and Series: Jenrya Lee / Digimon Tamers
In-Game Name: Jenrya Lee
Age: 11
Gender: Male
Position & Ship: Cabin Boy, Winding Way

Appearance: As far as eleven year olds go, Jenrya Lee looks surprisingly mature for his age. In fact, at first glance, one is likely to mistake Jen for a twelve, or possibly even thirteen, year old due to his height, features, and personality. With his short, blue hair, calm, grey eyes and tanned skin, Jenrya takes after his father, the prominent difference-engine scientist, Janyuu Lee, in many ways. He’s gotten quite used to having people ask him: “You wouldn’t happen to be Janyuu’s son, would you?”

When it comes to apparel, Jenrya isn’t necessarily the most suavely dressed pirate sailing the skies. He seems to have an affinity for a particular orange colored vest that clashes terribly with his hair color. Whether the vest is worn over a generic white pirate shirt (poofy sleeves and all), a less formal, short-sleeved, black shirt, or something else varies from one day to the next. While not enriching the lives of the ship’s flush spectators (i.e. not performing or looting), Jenrya can usually be seen wearing a pair of tall, black boots and protective gloves as well.

Personality: Personality-wise, Jenrya has always been a “voice of reason” type of guy. In most cases, he is able to remain calm and strives to see a situation for what it truly is. Devoid of prejudices towards either side, Jenrya tries to remain neutral in the little “tiff” that the factions seem to be having as of late, and understands and respects the views of both Ivona and Vohemar.

Jenrya is a pacifist by nature who doesn’t like to use force. Even if he thinks an idea is wrong, he does not try to force his beliefs onto others. However, at the same time, he can be very stubborn about holding onto his own beliefs. “Killing is wrong,” “as long as it isn’t hurting anyone else, let others do what they think is right” and “everyone, be they human, demi-human, or even beast, should be treated as equals.” That’s pretty much it for that matter. Don’t try to tell him otherwise; else you may be unfortunate enough to witness an extremely rare occurrence: Jenray Lee losing his temper.

Jen is a naturally curious person who does a very good job of not allowing that curiosity to get the better of him. He can often be seen with a hand up to his chin. This is his thinking face and it means that he’s in deep thought. Although he holds a strong love for technology, his interests don’t stop there. Jenrya also enjoys learning about ancient runes, history, and on occasion, philosophy. If you’re a guru in any particular field of study that peaks Jen’s interests, prepare to be asked a lot of questions.

Oh, but don’t let this kid fool you. As mature as Jen and his hobbies may be, he does have a snarky side that manages to sneak its way up from time to time. He’ll usually fit a sarcastic comment or two lightheartedly into a conversation when he thinks it’s appropriate. Janyuu once taught him a single word from a long lost language that Jen still holds to heart to this day: Momentai. It means “Take it easy” or “Don’t worry.” Overall, that word describes the tone of presence that Jenrya seems to have. In most cases, Jenrya is a pleasant person to be around.

Abilities/Weapons: Don’t expect Jenrya to take down any tough opponents; he simply isn’t up to that level. However, he is particularly skilled for his age in martial arts, and can shoot a gun when need be. He’s also able to keep a level head during chaotic situations.

Jen’s scholarly interests can be a helpful asset. He’s also formed a bit of a knack for mechanics, and has a sharp memory for remembering lines, (as long as he doesn’t have to play a main role).

How Well Can He Hack?: Jenrya's determined to be a great D.E. programmer when he grows up. So far, he can only hack up to medium level security (which isn't shabby for someone his age), but as his studies progress, he'll continue to grow as a programmer and as a hacker.

Weaknesses: Jenrya’s dislike for violence and the act of hurting others prohibits him from fighting seriously, even to the point that he will let himself be hurt rather than kill or seriously injure others.

He is also highly critical of his own actions and will blame himself for misfortunes that he has very little control over. When this happens, that level head of his begins to slip and he begins to lose focus.

Lastly, as was mentioned earlier, Jenrya can be very stubborn about his beliefs. His refusal to bend on certain issues (although these are few) may cause some friction on certain issues between himself and those around him.

History: Jenrya grew up in the city of Melior with his three siblings (an older brother, an older sister, and a younger sister) under the loving care of his parents, both of whom are well educated in the field of technology. His father, Janyuu Lee, in particular is an influential person in the study and development of difference engines. It is due to his father’s accomplishments that Jenrya dreams of one day following Janyuu’s footsteps by working with difference engines as well.

One day, knowing of his son’s love for technology, Janyuu decided to bring Jenrya along on a special research project at a new lab that was located along the border of the city.

As eager and curious as Jenrya was, he concluded that taking a peek at a very large, new, experimental difference machine while his father and his colleagues were examining something in another room wouldn’t cause any problems. After all, his father had said it himself: “Unfortunately, the experiment was a failure. This D.E. was supposed to incorporate magitech in its design, but it won’t work, no matter how hard we try to fix it.”

Of course, Jenrya had no intention of turning the difference engine on; he simply wanted to examine it. So, you can imagine how shocked he was when it started up on its own and strange symbols began to appear on the monitor. Before he had any time to call for help, there was flash of light and a strange, little animal came out of the screen! Surprisingly, the rabbit/dog-like creature could talk. The witty little thing called himself “Terriermon” and claimed that he was from a species of creatures called “Digimon” which ate the “auras” that humans produced in order to become stronger, but not the humans themselves. He was perfectly harmless. He also said that he found Jenrya’s aura to be different somehow; like it had been calling him and was made specifically to match his own. The two became fast friends, and Jenrya even snuck Terriermon back home with him by posing him as a stuffed animal.

For over half a year they were able to keep Terriermon’s existence a secret from his and the two friends spent every moment together. That is… until the day that Terriermon disappeared. Without warning, Jenrya woke up one day to find that Terriermon was gone.
Jenrya had to find his friend; he had to know why Terriermon had left and if it was of his own will, or if there had been other forces at work. If someone had found out about Terriermon, there was a possibility that they would want to capture him to use as a test subject because of his unusual existence. However, staying in Malior wouldn’t accomplish anything. He would do everything in his power to be with Terriermon again, and that included searching the entire globe if he had to. So, Jenrya set out aboard the first respectable-looking ship that he could find. That ship happened to be the Winding Way. He convinced his parents to let him leave under the pretext of wanting to study under the variety of great minds that belonged to such an elegant ship. Naturally, when his parents agreed, they hadn’t known of the ships true purpose. For their sanity’s sake, maybe it’s better that way. On the bright side, Jenrya has adjusted to pirate life rather well.
