Have to go to work soon but am gonna type up a quick entry.
29/6/09- I watched Koizora that night and it was ridiculous, probably due to the fact that it was a compressed version of the drama, which was a compressed version of the book, which used to be a mobile phone novel LOL. I felt like punching the girl in the face sometimes. It redeemed itself in the last 10 mins though, but I am starting to wonder if audiences aren't starting to become immune to cancer stories due to its overuse in tv dramas & sort of over-exposure in the news, with so many reports that x and y causes cancer. Discussing it with friends, I always get the reaction, 'oh, everything causes cancer now,' but when your own family/friends are touched (& this is a topic for another day), you can't help but feel resentful that some people are taking it so lightly.
30/6/09- for some reason I have been really tired lately. I sleep at like 2 and wake up at 11 but going anywhere or doing anything seems to be so exhausting ): Still need to look for wool + needles + go through the craft book for projects. Luckily the kids were managable. Kirsten trained them so well *_* I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button finally, and ... it wasn't as good as I had thought it would be. It was an interesting concept but I feel the story... really didn't go anywhere, and in some ways it was really reminescent of The Notebook, with the boating on the lake in the latter part of the story, and the daughter reading the story to the old & dying parent. There was some beautiful cinematography though. Sunset scenes always kill me.
1/7/09- borrowed heaps of books from the library: Atonement, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Opposite of Fate, Life of Pi, Nineteen MInutes. I've been struggling through Crimes against humanity; for a long time I wondered why some people hate to read but I kind of understand now. It's definitely interesting and well-written but I think all the acronyms and the history is lost on me, despite the fact that I know it is important and I am trying really hard to read it. I'm really enjoying The Opposite of Fate, Amy Tan has a very direct writing style, and there are so many issues that are relevant to me. Although the more Asian/American/Australian fiction I read, it seems like they all seem to have the same key ingredients; autobiographical, family-orientated, and featuring a slightly crazy mum.
2/7/09- helped mum make cookies for her prayer group in the morning. Just took them out of the oven, I forgot about them for like 5 mins, I hope they are okay. Will come back & add stuff later.
