The boys had a doctor's appt today, and the result was Ethan has a sinus infection and Liam, hopefully, is at the end of a bug that should be completely gone by tomorrow, so watch him and if he isn't better go back in for a deeper investigation (rapid strep was clear, but we'll wait on the regular test too).
While at Walgreens today getting the meds filled, Liam and Ethan were in rare form. I'm impressed the store is still standing...
So when the pharmacist asks if I want Ethan's amoxicillin flavored or kept normal, I just say "plain is fine" as I'm ripping a piece of plastic out of Liam's mouth that he found on the floor of the pharmacy by where they do the flu shots out of his mouth and arguing with him that it is NOT a good thing to be chewing on...
We get home to find that amoxicillin is now dye free! Which is awesome since there is no more pink stains when the kid spews it back at you... but this is also not a good thing since the pink stuff is apparently the awesome bubblegum flavor. :(
So I give Ethan a dose and he complains about the awful flavor. After the circus that was the trip to the store, I decide I'm not going out again. When Karl gets home, I ask him to please take the bottles back to Walgreens and ask them to put flavoring in.
This is what happens from there:
Karl to Ethan - "So do you want to go get your medicine flavored so it tastes better?"
Ethan - "Nope. I like it this way."
Me - *stares* "What the frell? Ethan... He wants to flavor your medicine.. you know the one you told me you hate?"
Ethan - "Nope. I like it this way."
Me - "Ethan... I had to pour it down your throat and then hold your mouth shut and plug your nose so you were forced to swallow and then hold your mouth shut so you didn't puke... then you whined for an hour about how bad the taste was."
Karl chuckles and then says - "Uhhh.. so Ethan.. how about changing the flavor?"
Ethan - "Ok... *Deep annoyed sigh* I guess if I HAVE to change the flavor..."
Yup. That's my son....
UPDATE: So the flavor he told Karl he wanted as they drove to Walgreens? "Lightning McQueen". Karl had to convince him that gasoline and oil flavored medicine might not be too yummy....
