I turned 29 today.
It dawned on me that when you are younger, you are SO excited for your birthday to come. It's a special day. You feel important... acknowledged... It's your day to be a Princess/Prince/Queen/King.
Then you get older and become an adult. And then it really just becomes another day.
And the amount of people who remember goes drastically down hill. :-P
Liam and I were at Four Quarters this weekend. It was a wonderful weekend. We had a great time. I'll be uploading a few adorable pictures of Liam and Ava, and a cute picture that Liam took of baby Mickey. I helped out in the kitchen for Saturday's evening meal. I really enjoy working in the kitchen. It's such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. I'm looking forward to working more in the kitchen for Stones this coming week.
Saturday night Liam asked to go to bed a little before 8. He was SO tired. Going to bed wasn't nearly as smooth as I had hoped... We stayed in Cathy's tent Friday night since we got in SO late. It was just easier to set up the air mattress in her tent and then set ours up on Saturday. I *KNOW* there were no sticks/mini-trees under our tent when I set it up. Tent was set up, air mattress was inflated, everything was moved... and then when we got back into the tent, the air mattress was slightly deflated. I figured it was because I didn't fill it the whole way up when we moved stuff (mostly did it quickly enough so Liam was happy about it being up and "ready" for later.). As I was re-inflating it, I notice that there is a stick, the size of my finger, that was THROUGH THE TENT AND THE AIR MATTRESS *sighs* I pull out the electrical tape that I have in the emergency kit in the car to do a fake-patch on the tent and the mattress. It was too humid for the tape to stick tightly on the mattress (which I pretty much assumed would happen), so it deflated during the night... Then in the middle of the night, we had a BIG thunder storm. Poor Liam about jumped out of his skin and was terrified. He curled up practically underneath me for the rest of the night. That was when we found out about the second and the third sticks up through the tent. *grumbles* Though the sticks did remind me that I had the windows in the tent unzipped, so everything was getting drenched in the tent. I got that taken care of and then realized that I had stuff outside that was getting wet. I figured that there was no point in bringing that inside then... it was towels and a shirt of mine--nothing that water would hurt. Needless to say, I didn't sleep that well for the rest of the night. I was uncomfortable and poor Liam was so scared it threw me off a bit for the night.
Yeah, so that's how my birthday started... we were late (ie, missed) breakfast due to attempting to stop the tent from bringing in more water through the ground... Liam was worried that the dirt had turned into quick sand and was afraid to walk on it, and ended up peeing in the tent. He was so upset about it and told me right away. We had a talk about the difference between mud and quick sand and he seemed to understand a little bit.
I got a big hug and kiss from Liam as a birthday present. It was really cute.
We went up to see mom and dad tonight. It was too short of notice to have her make her usual birthday dinner for me, so she said she'd do it for me some other night when I'm able to give her more notice--like not just coming back from a weekend and ready to go back out in a few days. It didn't seem like a birthday dinner--more like a "haven't seen your grandkids in a while, so we stopped by" dinner.
Now I'm stressed... feel like absolute crap... I have so much stuff I need to do Monday and Tuesday before I leave to go back to Four Quarters on Wednesday... I have no clue how I'm going to get everything done. I also need to pack for myself, Liam, and Ethan for the next week out there. I wish I had the money (and the space!) to hire someone to watch the boys while I am working in the kitchen. It's going to be hard to keep Ethan out of trouble while I am working. Liam runs off with Ava--not that they stay out of trouble, of course, but at least they do it together *lol* It's going to be hard since Ethan is so mobile--and nebby!
Ok, I have to try to get some sleep. My bra and shirt keep rubbing on the sun burn I got when I was in Hemlock Hole with Liam and Ava on Saturday. Ow.
