Well, we didn't make Trier, but we got to Kaiserslautern, where we explored the roads around the ridges for half an hour. Lovely town, but I couldn't find that darn Schloss.

It's in a commanding position, high on a ridge, I told DS.

Well, they got that wrong, didn't they, he replied.

We gave up. Headed for Trier. And then, as we were well on the way, I got a sight of the ridge line above Landsruhe. There was an old ruin, a turnoff, a Macdonalds, a servo. All the signs were there from four years back.

And so it was. We navigated up the winding road to the Schloss Hotel. The signs helped. They had a zimmer fur zwei Herron at a reasonable price.

Top night. We walked up to the Schloss, took photos, had a beer overlooking the valley, another beer with dinner, steaks and a fabulous bottle of rose.

I love this place. Some hotels, they are lost in the mind after a week. Just like all the rest. But not this one. It is perfect.
