re: dragon age

Main dislike over Dragon Age thus far is I am playing a male character, and of my potential romance choices one is boring and has a bizarre, impossible to place accent but she sounds incredibly like the Asian character in Metal Gear Solid that was always quoting proverbs at me instead of doing anything useful. The other is a heartless shrew of a ( Read more... )

Same. The one time I pleased her was when I more or less stole a sword from a kid and his sister (but to be fair, she said as thanks for returning her brother, I could have the sword). She cackled and Alistair made a snide comment about becoming a Grey Warden and stealing from the needy, so I got his disapproval and Morrigan's approval. I finally told her that she was a heartless shrew and I almost wanted to add on to stop being such a bitch, but I figured that would give me -50 disapproval, and I don't really want her betraying me. She's a decent mage to have along.

I was surprised by her class. I have to admit I haven't actually used her very much, but now that I've determined Morrigan is a bitch and is never going to like me, I've changed my party to MC, Alistair, Sten, and Leilana. And I only put Sten in because as much as I love my dog, he doesn't provide much amusing dialogue. (Aside from when Alistair tries to make friends with him and just pisses him off.) Hopefully she won't run off and do anything stupid.

I started a game as a female human warrior, but because I got curious about how the beginning was and about different approaches to answers with a male character (mainly hitting on Iona, the pretty elf lady in waiting) I started a new game with a male human rogue. I ended up continuing the story with him mainly because the last Bioware game I played (Mass Effect) I went through as a female character, so I figured it'd be fun to give a male character a whirl. I'm a hard hitting kind of player, so the rogue class is taking some getting used to. I prefer to whack things to death than be stealthy and careful.

I've actually managed to get a romance going with her. I'm not quite sure how it happened. Apparently being open-minded towards magic that exists outside of the Circle of Mages goes a REALLY long way with her. I like having her along, but I've found her a little redundant since I'm MCing a mage. Her shapeshifting's useful since she just got the bear form, but it prevents her from taking part in conversations. :\

Sten is someone I thought I'd like but is pretty much annoying the crap out of me whenever I put him in. He's benched for the time being. The best way I've found to treat Leilana is to just take away any melee weapons she has. She's still a little thick, though. She's likely to get dropped once a suitable replacement shows up.

Lame admission: my mage's name is Gialaca. Maybe that's why the romance with Morrigan is working...

Wynne joins up with you later when you start going around trying to get allies.
