Conventions Ahoy

Conventions coming out my ears! guiduck and I decided to go to Anthrocon in 2010 pretty much immediately upon having the whole "uh I'm furry" conversation after we met. Since he is rad as hell, he's totally down to go to whatever cons we can manage. We both love to travel and he, at least, is lucky enough to have a job that offers lots of vacation time that he never uses up. But Anthrocon is so very far away, and there are several cons in the meantime! I would love to go to Further Confusion, but it's the weekend before we go on a BIG trip to Paris so that's a bit much to fit in :)

ANYHOO guiduck has a good friend in Atlanta, and I realized the other day that he is not only super open-minded but also a complete nut (and he works at a puppet museum!)--so not only could we trust him to not be weird about the whole thing but would likely love to join us at a furry con. So I think we're going to make a go at attending Furry Weekend Atlanta! I just hope I know some folks online before that happens, it would be so awesome to meet people IRL that I know online. Of course, I'd love to meet new people that I can then keep in touch with online afterwards :)

I have a really good friend in Denver who would probably think this is all quite fun, but Rocky Mountain FurCon is a week before Burning Man. Definitely not do-able--BM requires so much planning (and money) that I'm gonna be crazy enough with Anthrocon a month beforehand.

I've heard so much about conventions, and they sound like such a blast. I've only been to Rainfurrest, once, and we just dipped in for a day since we live an hour away, so while we had fun we didn't have the full experience. So I'm super excited to do the whole deal, staying at a hotel, parties, dances, etc.

Anyhoo, I'm hoping to maybe slip one in sometime in the early summer, so we'll see :)

EDIT: hm, no medium or larger cons in late spring/early summer it looks like (besides FWA). Maybe we will try to get to FurCon? That would be a ridiculous schedule, but awesome!
