Saturday didn't go the way I planned it to.
I was just planning to catch up on the HUGE pile of laundry I had sitting in the baskets in my hallway "laundry room." I finally did 2 loads in the morning, as well as have a nice bath. :) Then Shilo texted me and told me that I should be expecting my MIL's text soon, asking me to pick up lunch for everyone. Shilo's family gives vaccinations to the calves once or twice a year, and this was the time of the year they do that. All the family gets together and works together on the cows. I couldn't help since no one wanted to risk hurting me and the baby. MIL did text me, and asked me to meet her at Lefler field (we have names for each field on the farm, since it's so huge...it's in sections). I drove over there and got her credit card...and then went to KFC/Taco Bell and got A LOT (1 gallon mashed potatoes, 1 gallon gravy, 1 gallon green beans, two buckets of chicken, 1 bucket of biscuits...and 12 tacos). MIL had already called and ordered it, so they had it ready when I got there.
Brought the food to my in-laws' house. Set up everything ready for everyone to help themselves. The family came home...and then MIL & SIL noticed Precious (one of the puppies) was injured. I went out there to look at her and make sure she was okay. She was possibly hit by car. Her gum line was torn, so her lip was hanging, and she's got gaps in her skin on her right paw. She was in a lot of pain and in shock.
We tried to call my boss but couldn't get ahold of him...we called Southwest City (across the state line)...no answer. Then the other animal hospital in town...no answer. Siloam Springs, Ark. and Tulsa answered, but we felt they were too far. We decided to go ahead and go to Siloam Springs, since it was 45 minutes away. We started driving there, then my FIL called her and said that my boss called back and said to meet at the clinic. We turned around and met him. He wanted Precious to stay overnight, but MIL didn't want her to. I told him that I would help keep an eye on her. He gave her shots to help with the pain and shock..as well as antibiotics. Wrapped up her paw. He's gonna stitch her up after church today.
We brought her home...and I stayed at my in-laws to watch Precious while MIL went back to help with the cows. I was so bored, so I ended up washing my in-laws' dishes from lunch, cleaning the backseat of my blazer (from the food I got at KFC), and just basically straightening things up (as well as watch 3 hours worth of Extreme Makeover). I'm wondering if my nesting instinct is startin' to kick in?
They came back home around 5...we ate what was left of lunch...and there were still plenty left. :-p
Shilo and I went home. Did 3 more loads of laundry. Still not quite halfway. Sometimes I think we have too much. We're just gonna wash 'em all and then go through them to see what we can give away or throw away.
Not quite the Saturday I expected to be. But it wasn't bad. :)
