alanna from tamora pierce's song of the lioness quartet was my favorite bamf when i was younger. she's still one of my favorites -- and those books are my total comfort books, ones i go and reread whenever i'm feeling particularly sick or just want a little nostalgia. ahhh, adore.
BECAUSE KIRK AND SPOCK WITH A KID IS ADORABLE, OKAY. (surrogate? future technology allowing combination of same-sex genes with a surrogate carrying the baby to term? adopted vulcan baby?) i feel a bit like an obsessive/scary fan for drawing pairings!with!kids art, but it is adorable and it was fun to draw (: ...they'd be, interesting parents. /contemplates.
i also was watching star trek tos reruns tonight while doing yoga, and my brother came down and was like '...' i'm not sure he understand my fixation. sometime i'll sit him down and make him watch, but ...i figured i should probably start him off some other time, not when shatner is rapturously reciting the preamble to a bunch of men in speculatively imitation native american costumes, in true shatner acting fashion.
for hours afterward, this was stuck in my head. THIS IS HOW I LEARNED ABOUT THE PREAMBLE, OKAY, it's completely ingrained into my brain.
but in more important news: for everyone who's affected by the earthquake & afteraffects, i'm holding you in my (worried) thoughts with all my good energy sent in your direction. i have cousins & second cousins in japan that i haven't heard from yet, and relatives on the west coast, and friends all over the place, and ahh. i hope you guys are okay. /thinks good thoughts for you.
