Top Five AUs!
so, um, bookelfe recently did this top five AUs post that was amazing, and then a little bit later i drew this ST/inception crossover, SO I ENDED UP WITH MY OWN TOP FIVE AUs. (at four in the morning. ...but worth it.)
o1. mean gurls au.
jim's mom is not like other moms. she's a cool mom.
IT SUCKS TO BE THE FOREIGN KID. (this would make nyota aaron? AND SCOTTY DAMIEN AND SULU JANIS? or sulu damien and scotty janis? lmfao idek.)
-> as a bigger cliche au; high school au ....but, i've come to the conclusion that pretty much any fandom with mean gurls quotes and/or situations applied to it instantly becomes. very. hilarious. and since new!trekkers are pretty much still kids anyway, they'd be the perfect starting crossover, of course ):
i've read quite my share of high schools aus, from pretty much every fandom starting from jrock, and it when done well they really can be fabulously amusing, especially when you take an extreme situation and then but those characters into a high school setting and chose high school cliches & situations that just fit. when done right, it's clever and amusing -- and the song 'high school never ends' becomes too true.

captain, you are behaving highly illogically
…this is so fitting it’s ridiculous. EVEN THE PHOTOSHOPPING WAS EASY. arthur, the logical one, cobb, the one in charge with demons from his past, and eames as the sarcastic one that’s always giving arthur shit. and ariadne as the lady aboard (who in the alternate reality timeline gets together with arthur, so.)
-> okay i do love the whole space!au, exploring other worlds and all that, but i partly but this here just because i love the idea of this specific crossover. ...i would like to see fullmetal alchemist on the enterprise, though. ...and house. lmao, OKAY, I JUST LIKE SPACE!AUs. it has the epic feel to it, exploring new lands and all, and that's always a great kind of story to read -- and star trek left fandom with such lush groundwork that it holds a lot of possibilities.

maes hughes and his lovely lady gracia help his buddy roy rise up in the ranks ...however they need to.
-> i have a thing for old school gangsters and noir, so this kind of au is totally sexy and delicious to me. cigarettes and blackmail, yum. there's a tone to these era and setting that can really bring out the best in writing and the darkest in characters, so yeah. definitely on my list.

BECAUSE IZUMI AND SIG WOULD BE THE CUTEST HAPPY-IN-LOVE!SIDE!STORY PAIR (VIA PRIDE AND PREJUDICE) EVER. IMAGINE IT. dancing at balls and courting all chastely and being adorable and swoonful. looove.
-> i really like this era of historical romance novels, it has this feel that totally jives with me, and i think well done AUs in it could be really beautiful. i'd love to see one that breaks from tradition and has a lesbian couple as the main pairing, instead of the female lead finding true love with the man. however, for this example it could totally be roy/riza =D (does this make izumi riza's older sister? xD somehow, that could work.)
o5. hogwarts au.
UM HOUSE WOULD HAVE SO MUCH FUN AT HOGWARTS. this is a guy who makes random contraptions out of medical supplies when he's supposed to be doing clinic duty -- can you imagine how much trouble he would've gotten into if he could do magic? especially as a teenager. featuring wilson as the begrudgingly amused best friend, chase as the third year slytherin suck-up, and amber as that badass girl who they all kind of crush on. (jealousy ensues. ...house and wilson possibly just end up with each other. after house has fall outs with both the ravenclaw prefect, stacy, and the gryffindor one, cuddy. lmao)
-> harry potter gave the world such a beautiful fantasy setting at hogwarts, with the clearly defined houses and a very complete world, so it's pretty easy to stick anyone in an au there. really, being right in the middle of the harry potter!generation, i've spent so much time categorizing different fandoms (and real people; friends, etc) into hogwarts houses -- and it really does have such a complete world that lends so fully to your imagination that you just can't help but want to do crossovers (:
please comment! i'd really love to hear about the au's that you guys like. and if anyone ever wrote any of these i would die and worship you from beyond the grave. (public post because IF ANYONE EVER HAPPENS ACROSS THIS PAGE AND GETS IDEAS, that would be cool too =D)
other news; caught up on glee (...which, i'm still on the fence about. i keep trying to think of it as an over-the-top broadway show, and that helps with the stereotypes/odd character development/ridiculousness that can make me ':|', a bit.) but, well, the recent drinking!episode. it just made me think of this. /sob.
and going to catch up on skins season 5 soon. *_* oh! the lovely awoken made this franky/mini mix that is gorgeous and i seriously can't get out of my head. if you know skins at all, i highly rec it. hell, even if you don't know skins, the music is beautiful (:
&&& i wrote some inception!fic: Body Aches. cobb/ariadne/arthur.
and a fic dump. (fma, yunjae, HP, good will hunting, fight club).
& an FMA ed/win fanart. ...i now officially hate drawing couches. (can you tell the lamp was an afterthought? lmfao /fail.)
