For the last three months I have been dealing with wheezing and some shortness of breath. I had assumed it was my hayfever allergies staying with me. But over the last few weeks it has gotten worse, to the point where I was having chest pains. So, I sucked it up and made an appointment with my family doctor.  I waited as long as I could because I have a VERY high deductable insurance (I pay up to $5,000 before they pay anything).
Today was my appointment and it was scary. My doctor had me doing an x-ray of my chest and heart, and then an EKG of my heart, and then a breathing test. I was really scared because something could be wrong with my heart. Well, after an hour and a half of tests, my doctor comes in and she says, "Well we found something". I held my breath.... thinking.."oh gosh... please don't let it be my heart..". Well it wasn't, praise God, but she told me I had "mild intermittent asthma". It is a very mild type, but I have a lovely inhaler I need to tote around with me at all times. I do notice it is worse during excerise (great.. because I am trying to lose weight and get fit). But I guess this is something I will have to manage... just not something I guessed I could just "develop" at age 26.
I am worried that this will mess me up for future insurance plans. This will be a "pre-existing" condition and will not be covered. Great.. I will owe $40,000 dollars in student loans and have a pre-existing condition when I graduate in May. Well at least I dont have to drive to Cincinnati anymore!!!
