I'd like to take a moment and gripe.
I hate it when people just don't show up for a shift and don't call. In fact, I hate it when people don't show up but they do call. It's the most thoughtless thing in the world, and (at least in my line of work) it's almost always because of sheer laziness or bad choices the previous evening.
When you don't show up for a scheduled shift, it fucks everyone. The people on your shift either have to work that much harder to make up for your absence, or one individual gets called on their day off, or asked to stay late, or start early. Your manager has to deal with making a million phone calls, some of which are to you (which are obviously ignored, it's easier to have an alibi the next day anyway). The entire day can fall apart, and the whole staff can potentially have their days ruined... all because of one lazy asshole.
Now that I think of it, the people who are bad for this are generally part time as well. I understand that you may have school, or other responsibilities, or another job, or you may just have this job because your rich parents told you they'd cut you off if you didn't grow the fuck up.
Yes, I understand that you have outside circumstances. To that I say: if you can't consistently show up to work, if you can't handle the hours you're getting, if you don't really want to be there, then just fucking quit and save us all a bunch of your shitty, shitty misery.
