- Right there with you about Ronald MacDonald, Sam. Clowns are creepy. I watched the episode by myself at night, and
in_the_bottle can tell you that I almost stopped watching because it was creeping me out that much. GAAAAAH. The overall verdict: while the monster scared the crap out of me, the MOTW plot was so very lame. :)
- Oh, but angsty and pretty boys. Who cares about the plot?
- The last scene: eeeep. That's really about all I can manage. Oh, Dean. (Oh, Metallicar!)
- Sam's speech made me tear up. Oh, Sam.
- Sam & Dean: I am totally unspoiled and I have no idea what John told Dean. Whatever it was, though, I don't see it changing the way Dean cares for Sam. He is definitely pulling away from Sam and not letting him close (or not letting himself rely on Sam), but he's still concerned about Sam. He wanted to know why Sam was so keen to go on this hunt, and he obviously thought a lot about Sam's motivations, but he doesn't have enough in him to try to comfort Sam anymore. I think he still desperately needs Sam (he looked so guardedly hopeful when he asked whether Sam really meant it when he said he doesn't want to go back to school, it breaks my heart), but for whatever reason he just can't anymore. Is it because of the secret? Is it because of guilt - his life was at the cost of John's?
- This gap between them - it hurts to watch them being like this but I love it. :) It's part lingering bitterness towards Sam (you up and left us for 4 years, and now you want to make amends?) and it's probably also part "don't think you know how I feel because you just never loved Dad like I did". It's exactly the same as how Sam felt about Dean not understanding how he felt about Jess. Oh, SHOW.
- Jo & Ellen: I'm pretty "meh" about Jo, I just don't see any chemistry between Dean and her from this episode, it all felt a bit forced. But I'm surprised that Dean seems to have no idea that such a hunter network existed. He's obviously gone on quite a few solo hunts even before the series, and John has never told him about this? Conclusion: John and Ellen definitely had a thing. :)
