Sweat dripped down her face. She was up in a tree, hidden from all--unless they had augmented senses or something and, in that case, Kiba would likely encounter them first. After all, why go after the shinobi apparently stupid enough to nap while out of their territory?

How stupid indeed.

Until someone noticed the beads of sweat making their way down her face, the way her eyebrows were furrowed, the way her hands were clenched. All signs that she was awake and doing something.

Fighting off an attack? If so, it would be logical to assume that her partner would be present to watch over her and give whatever aide they could--that was one of the things mission partners were supposed to do after all.

But hers was down and scouting. A man and his very very large dog.

Her lips curved up slightly as her mind, brushing through the area, found him, lingered for a second--long enough for him to glance back her way--and moved on.

It wasn't like seeing. There were no colours, there was no vegetation. It was like groping helplessly through the darkness until, all of a sudden, you stumbled upon some crystallized structure that hummed with activity.

Her mind was particularly tuned to searching out minds that way. They reverberated through the aching silence of the darkness and Ino was drawn to them like a moth to flame. That was alright with her as she spun in a circle around another mind, one that was unaware of her presence, and then darted onwards--not the one she was looking for.

It was a fairly well travelled area. Only the fact that their Intel had been firm about their target being here had Ino staying her impatience and casting out again.

And again. Then again. Over and over until--

There.

Quick as a flash Ino was in that crystallized structure and landing lightly on the translucent 'floor', more a membrane than a surface meant for walking on. Taking a moment to gain her bearings, Ino melted into the mind.

A few things to change. Tweak a little here and there. Twist that thought so that it met seamlessly with that one.

And they had the perfect scapegoat at hand.

Ino's smile, when she opened her eyes, a few kilometres away, was triumphant. Another mission, another job well done. Her puppet, all unknowing, would do its job well--and all for the price of sweat soaking clothing and a headache that would fade in a few hours.
