La la la

I have a headache, blah. It's equal parts the gloomy weather (dear sky, it shouldn't look like evening at nine in the morning) the fact that it's Monday-at-work and I'm covering for someone who I have... no clue how they like things thanks to their last cover off not answering my e-mails on Friday (joy, rly), and the fact that my brother is a raging dumbass who I will deal with when I get home.

On the bright-side, one of my usual lawyers is working from home today so hurrah and huzzah and all of that as now she can't hover over my shoulder and all I have from her is figuring out a fax issue and binderizing stuff. I don't know yet what the other one'll have but hopefully it won't be too bad. (Note to self: TIMESHEETS. Do them.)

So the day may yet be saved assuming lawyer number three is okay with me being a wee bit clueless about his personal needs and demands until he, you know, tells me.

I finished watching Angelic Layer finally, and I'm a bit confused that the sub-plot of how the Angels came to be is apparently... completely left out of the manga (SO WEIRD) because it makes sense and adds a bit of depth even though Misaki's mom has... Issues. I also finished reading Marmalade Boy and the manga is a lot less frustrating than the anime because it's less insipidly dragged out. (I say this with love, I love the anime, but seriously.)

Next on my list is to watch all of Saiyuki and to catch up on The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross. Mmmm, pretty shounen men with issues and then pretty shoujo art with MORE issues (but less death). Though I've been sort of tempted to watch Fushigi Yuugi lately because a F!S showed up about Hotohori and Houki and that sparked contemplation about why I loathed that pairing (because Houki looks like Nuriko [only Nuriko was physically a man!] and Nuriko loved Hotohori madly and then Nuriko died and Hotohori turned around and married someone who looks just like Nuriko only female and...) yeah. Um. Also, I picked up the first two volumes of Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time and it's reminding me of FY with the whole Girl From Other World is Priestess Who Will Save Them All and Gets Eight Ridiculously Attractive Guardians in the Process.

(Yes, I'm aware of what that says about my taste in manga, okay? Shush. I'm allowed to like eye candy and silly shoujo fluff just as much as plot and death and shounen.)

And I'm pretty sure that, currently, and honestly have been for a good while, my favourite shounen is Yu Yu Hakusho and my favourite shoujo is Kaleido Star and if that's not a brain warp and a hop skip step across genres then I don't know what is. About the only thing they share is Good Character Development.

...and maybe Training From Hell. But shhhhh. DIFFERENT REASONS.

Also! It's really ridiculously silly to be so excited but I am anyway. A million years ago (not literally) Kai and I watched an OVA called Gestalt that was pretty much the first two episodes of what could've been a pretty kickass and fun/silly sort of anime. Only they never made more of it. But. But now they're releasing the manga and it's fun. I have the first two volumes, whee. Funfunfun.

(And I love this Juli icon. How sad is it that AFTER I've dropped Juli for almost a year I find a load of icons for her? Whhhhy?)

real life, anime/manga talk, toast
