It's been so long since I've posted an actual entry that is not fic or something. (But that's okay, because my fic is more interesting than I am!) Let's just keep this bullet-pointy:
- still overworked and burning out because of it, since the coworker that was supposed to be coming back from maternity leave decided at literally the last moment to take a job elsewhere… after we'd held off on hiring anyone for her position for over seven months so that she could have it.
- so, you know, we could have hired someone seven months ago and saved me (and the whole department) a lot of pain and overtime and stress
- I mean, I'm not angry at her for doing what's best for her family, but I'm angry that I've been working so hard and for basically nothing and I sort of want to just go and sleep for a week? Yeah?
- I'm signing up for July's Camp NaNo, because I'm stupid. I don't have time or energy to write that much but I'll kill myself trying, I guess. I'm probably going to work on my current original project, since I need to reread all of Alice before going anywhere further on that.
- Also keeping up with LFS, which is good, since I'm the only one consistently playing in it any longer. I hope anyone who reads it still enjoys it.
- Need to update the prompt list though.
- And comment on the things people have written.
- It's funny how it used to be weird to post to my own prompts and be the only person who answered them and now I don't care? I'm grateful for having it since the obligation of it keeps me writing even on days when I'd rather (hyperbolically) jump off a bridge.
- That being said, the fact that most of my responses are in the 100 - 150 word range is definitely a sign of my being too tired to get more out.
- I've also started drabbling for
ffvii_100, in the last two weeks. Probably shouldn't, but if I can get out 100 words for that in the morning, it's okay. And I'm excited that FFVII is getting a remake, so that's fueling the energy there.
- I finished (finally) rereading LKH's Merry Gentry series so that I could read the latest entry in it, A Shiver of Light. It was absolute trash and I'm ashamed I bought the book at full price and then took too long reading it so I can't return it. UTTER. TRASH. And I think what offends me the most about it is that there were glimmers of interesting plots, but in grand LKH tradition, everything really interesting is either mentioned as an aside and never brought up again, or happens off-screen and we just hear the results.
- I need to reread the Anita books, but I'm going to give myself a break from LKH first.
- I started taking archery lessons last month! I'm pretty terrible at it, but it's very soothing and makes me feel like a badass.
- I also got to see Shania Twain in concert and there have been stars in my eyes about her for over a week now. It was amazing and glorious and I'm so happy I got to see her.
- I've also been having a lot of fun RPing Alluka over in Fandom High.
- So it hasn't been all bad, but I've been so tired and overworked that I haven't been able to have as much fun as I'd like and that's not great? Ugh. I hope we hire someone soon.
Now, a to-do list for this week (fandomly):
- Update the LFS prompt list DONE!
- Start back at prompt 300 and leave comments on every post that other people have written things for.
- Reply to comments people have left me
- Post FFVII drabbles here and on FF.net DONE!
- Finish watching Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works and Wish Upon the Pleiades
- Post a KakaSaku chat (though I wonder if there's a point? But, on the other hand, if I don't post then I won't know…)
- Write a one-shot of something. Anything. Post it. DONE!
