we are going to disney word, i mean, las vegas again in a week, and i'm stoked. three days is precisely the amount of time i can handle the spectacle in all of its overabundance. i love gawking at this hyperreal environment, in addition to pretending to be bourgeois for a short period despite still being payed hourly (although i am now "contracting", as well as hourly, which somehow sounds more professional, even though it is ultimately exactly the same in terms of monetary value).
last year, i spent most of my three days walking and
gawking, as i had never been to las vegas previously. we dined at
fleur de lys, which was the most amazing meal of my life, saw
le reve, and stayed at
the mirage. i also visited with sara, who is studying to be a p.a. out that way; the venetian is one of her favorites. i saw an ansel adams exhibition at the bellagio, which was so-so (not too horrible, considering that it was ansel adams. his contrast and level of detail can be incredible, though). we partied with microsoft by
the palms pool and with isec in ghostbar's vip lounge (nice to escape the flames protruding from the ceiling, i must admit. they make for an extremely hot dance floor).
i am thinking of some possible days for while i am there this year:
scenario 1:
-lounging at each of
caesar's 4 pools for half of the day (including the venus) while reading a postmodern theory book- the conspiracy of art perhaps...or even just finishing the ground beneath her feet, which is pm fiction for certain
-visiting the
guggenheim in the venetian to see paintings from the main museum's collection
-chillin on the strip, taking some more photos and visiting
flamingos,
white tigers, the
new planet hollywood set-up,
casear's forum,
etc. etc. scenario 2:
-spending serious time at qua, where it snows in the cold spa (
seriously!)
-a little outdoor pool time
-circus circus's
adverturedome or
luxor motion simulator ride scenario 3:
-tour the
neon boneyard (note: must make reservation)
-
museum of authentic reproductions (oh, baudrillard, stop...)
-spending time at the
luxor's pools-dinner at
bouchon-
spamalot at the wynn (and checking out some picassos on the way)
this will be awesome.
