Thursday night to Monday morning with Marc. Happy days and glorious nights.
He collected me from the airport at close to midnight and we went home, stopping only for a snack. Which I didn't eat *hee* Friday was Gavin's 3rd birthday!
A few hours after we went to sleep, Marc headed out to pick Gavin up. Thankfully, they let me sleep in until about 11:30a. While Marc got a nap, Gavin and I made pancakes and then I did some homework. Then, while Gavin napped in the office, I woke Marc up *clears throat* The three of us went out for some dinner and then went to an awesometastic produce/ethnic food place to buy a few supplies. After...IKEA! Gavin had a ball in the kid's section and we managed to get through about 1/4 of the furniture floor room before he had had enough and needed a change of scenery. I got him an easel and a chair for his birthday :-) On the way home, we stopped for a few groceries and a pumpkin. Once home, we made chocolate cupcakes w/ lemon butter-cream icing and then did the candle/singing thing. Gavin freaked out when we sang--which was quite funny--but returned to the room once his dad assured him everything was ok. Once Gavin was asleep, Marc and I watched a good movie on PPV--Sunshine Cleaners?
Gavin is at the point of resenting my intrusion into his life and testing the waters. He (amusingly) tried to play his dad and I off of one another and did a little supervisor shopping. Clever kid. I'm happy to say that he is reacting very well to time-outs, silent stand-offs, and other such measures.
Oh! Fire Ants bit me :-(
On Saturday, I made brekky for the household. Guy was over so the house was extra lively. Marc and I assembled the new easel and chair and they occupied Gavin for quite a while. I tempted him away in the later hours of the afternoon so that we might paint the pumpkin. While the pumpkin dried, Marc and I cleaned the few pieces of trash (trash guys! is it the same everywhere?) out of the front yard and he showed me the garage. Then, it was time to take Gavin home. Marc and I hoped for a nap, but it never happened because soon after dinner was over, Dave and company walked in, ready to go see Zombieland. Which ROCKED! After, Marc and I stopped off at the store for his dad and then went home. We watched some Boston Legal while snuggled up on the sofa and then went to bed. Yum.
On Sunday, we didn't go downstairs until, ummm, 4:30p? After some pancakes, we snuggled back into the sofa for some more Boston Legal...leaving only to make a chicken dinner and eat it :-) As the night was drawing to a close, I got sad. Like, really fucking sad. It hit me hard. He kissed my tears away and we enjoyed a long, hot, comforting shower together. We snuggled up in bed and chatted until we dozed off...
Today. Meh. We woke at 8a so we could get to the Doraville station by 9:42. It was smooth sailing, really, which is good cause I kinda sleep-walked through all of the steps. Leave Marc. Go to the train. Take the train to the airport. Get off and get boarding pass in station. Walk into airport. Security check. Gate. Wait. Board plane. Leave plane. Through Philly airport. Septa bus, Septa train. School. I woke out of my half-stupor about 30 mins before class and salvaged what was left of the day.
It's odd to be happy and sad at the same time.
It was nice to get a big hug from my huge son.
