[ Ficlet ] The Pieces of this Puzzle
YooChun+OC (RiChun). 932 words. Prompt: Habits.
Author's Notes: For
ianinna, YooChun's shining Ruchbah. Written on a mini-notebook over the long weekend, among other drafts. (Could you tell I was bored and had no life?) This RiChun verse has TVXQ!YooChun and GF!Risha living together under the same roof. It's a G-rated drabble, don't worry kids. No het-sex here. Not yet though. :P
She has an aversion for anything open-ended. When she wakes up, she stays in bed, motionless, for a couple of minutes. With her eyes closed, she tries to remember what she'd dreamt of. If she finds it intriguing, amusing or just simply mind-fucking if she doesn't find out how it ends, she will try to go back to the scene she left with a fifteen-minute nap.
He suffers from temporary amnesia everyday. He panics when he wakes up, the reason being that he CANNOT for the life of him remember where he is, who he's with, or what he did the night before. He doesn't bother with remembering dreams, thinking that real life already requires too much memory space to begin with.

He gets bored waiting for her to finish bathing. She takes considerable time in the shower and justifies it by saying she's a girl; being so requires tedious care of the skin, hair, teeth, and so forth. In reality, she stays too long in the tub, coming up with plot bunnies and doesn't come out until the bunnies multiply at least three-fold.
Her worry meter rises when he showers. When it's time for him to take a bath, she makes it a point to take note of the time. If he doesn't come out after an hour-and-a-half, she opens the bathroom door and comes in, regardless of whether he's clothed or not. Better to be safe than sorry, she'd always say, remembering the time YooChun almost drowned in the tub because the warm water made him sleepy.

She is mostly practical in buying things, but likes to spoil YooChun every once in a while. A few months ago, she bought him a new electric razor, and added a nice bowler hat to his collection a month after that. When he asks why he's getting so much attention, she replies, Just because.
Whatever he likes, he gets. After all, he's not burning his ass off at work for nothing. However, he keeps a special stash somewhere in the bedroom, hoping that by the time he's ready, he'd be able to buy the most beautiful ring ever: the one whose diamonds sparkled in her eyes, when he stared at them intently on that day he took her out shopping.

During breakfast or after dinner, or whenever she's having coffee, she spaces out for a while and she will not remember anything she hears or sees within that brief period of time. YooChun calls these moments "Alone Times," and has since learned to leave her alone when she's having them.
He tries to avoid coffee when he's sick, but he needs it when he's trying to compose something. When she sees him composing and starting with a blank music sheet, she makes his coffee black and strong, because he had said that he needed to be wide awake when inspiration strikes. When he's following through or revising a composition, she remembers to makes his coffee smooth, creamy and sweet to keep his melodies as such.

At the end of the day, she spends time in front of the TV with a bowl of popcorn on her lap, waiting for a good movie to be shown on HBO. When YooChun sees or hears her digging the cupboard or the fridge, it's a signal that they've run out of popcorn. He stands by the door immediately and blocks it, because she'll insist to buy something to nibble on in the convenience store two blocks away, and he doesn't want her to walk in the dark alone.
Before she comes home from work, YooChun tries to finish his composition and buys groceries: some popcorn, soda and chocolate will do, and maybe a couple of ramen bowls. He isn't particularly fond of walking out with her at night (but he's learning to like it somehow), and prefers to be cuddled up with her on the sofa waiting for something good to watch.

She sleeps first, because he's a workaholic and doesn't like being disrupted in the middle of a progressing composition. She leaves him notes under his pillow before she sleeps, reminding him constantly of where he is, who he's with, and what he did before he turns in for the night. She finds it funny to do this every single night, but thinks it's useful (and sweet) anyway.
YooChun is impatient. 'Nuff said. He wakes up in the middle of the night and reads her notes to him under his pillow. He knows it's cheating, and it defeats the purpose of the notes in the first place, but he loves reading each note over and over until he's drowsy and ready to go back to sleep again. Tonight the note reads:
Mr. Park YooChun,
You're in my bed, and don't get any ideas. I didn't rape you; it would be most probably if it were the other way around.
We watched "50 First Dates" on HBO tonight, and you ate the last Snickers bar. You brute.
You're with the most boring person on earth, ME. If you should decide to leave before sunrise, you might wanna return the electric razor.
Love always,
Risha
He smiles and stares at her, curled up under the blanket and sleeping soundly. Softly, he kisses her, is careful not to wake her up when he replaces her pillow with his arm, and holds her close before he finally closes his eyes.
If I return the electric razor, will you give back my heart? he whispers and smiles, knowing he'll never be able to hear her reply.
Thanks for reading! ^^
