Once college is gone

So much depends
upon

The red wheelbarrow
glazed with rain
water

Standing next
to the white
chickens

I told an old friend tonight that I was worried. And he promptly grabbed a pen and a pad of crappy paper from under his bar and handed it to me. "You can't get any simpler than that! It doesn't get any fucking easier!" This from the man who toils behind the Howards bar and is going to ask his girlfriend to marry him in the Cla-zel theater. Jesus. Wisdom comes from the weirdest fucking places.

Tonight was nothing short of amazing. After 10 hours of Aldi, and a day that made me want to punch a baby and, once again, left me on the verge of groundless tears, I decided to drive straight from work to BG to see my old nature buddies, the recycling crew. Now, I've spent countless hours with these fine gentlemen cleaning up our fair campus, discussing the finer things in life, wallowing in hangovers, drinking the nights away, and enjoying the sights of the Western U.S. via environmental service trips, but never have I enjoyed their sunburnt faces and drunken stories more. Ah, to find those who are so close to being blood that only modern science denies it. I've had some of the best days of my lives with these boys and tonight was no exception. We'll joke and talk until the world ends, I freaking swear.

Okay, so here's to drinking on nights when you have to get up at 4:30 am the next day to go to your grown up job! Forget growing up!!!!
