I just had tapsilog for breakfast. Ahhhh, the simple joys of life. ^^,~
This week I was asked to do six webpages for a client... in 30 minutes. At first I was like... WTH? I can't do that in 30 minutes!!!
But yeah, I was able to.
This company... I dunno. I hope to stay long here. Sure, there are a lot of things I don't know about the industry still, but people are so willing to teach. Even the simple, "Uh... (insert name her) paano ba mag-center ng text sa InDesign?" doesn't irk them. You see I'm an idiot in a whole lot of other graphics applications except Photoshop, and I'm using what... three new ones now here at work. It takes flexibility and a sponge's absorption level to get through a single day. I tend to forget things, yes... but damn, I'm proud I can work with new stuff now. I even made my first flyer (for a US travel agency) using InDesign last Tuesday, so I'm kind of silently patting my back for that. It didn't look so bad. ^^,~
The people make me want to learn more, and that's a good thing. People inspire their colleagues to be better. I really like this kind of work environment. Sure, there are a lot of restrictions in the internet, but that's alright. At least people are really disciplined.
Oh! A short anecdote.
It was our MIS's birthday last Wednesday, and he's the one who's very strict with network policies and stuff (well, yeah, cos he's the MIS!). Around 2pm that afternoon, people started posting birthday messages for him on their YM status.
"(insert name here), Happy Birthday!!! Pa-youtube ka naman!" (Youtube is banned in the office.)
"Pa-friendster ka na rin! Happy Birthday!" (So is friendster.)
"Youtube at friendster blowout!"
We were all laughing in the second floor (where our office is), each telling another person to great our MIS through their YM status. Eventually, after a few minutes of teasing, our MIS changed his YM status to:
"Sige, mamaya papayoutube at friendster ako, 3pm!"
And true enough, at 3pm, the firewalls were turned off and we could all access youtube, friendster, and other banned sites. The people were ecstatic! I swear, I was laughing my head off just hearing their reactions. I even heard one said, "Grabe tong mga to... di bale nang walang pagkain (na blowout), makapag-friendster lang!"
*shakes head* We are dorks.
