Well this is just brilliant.
While I should have been guaranteed a room in residence at UBC, they are now telling me that I don't count because I live in the lower mainland. Never mind the fact that the site says "these requirements" OR "live outside of the lower mainland". I have the former but nope, no room. I'm currently #4088 on the waitlist. *headdesk*
So now, because I'm currently ~2 hours away by transit, I need to find somewhere cheap near campus, which isn't particularly easy when it's surrounded by water on three sides, a forest/park on the fourth, and on-campus is generally ridiculously expensive. =/ Found a good-looking suite a block away from the park that I'll hopefully get to see this weekend. It's a bit more expensive but quite large (700 whole square feet! :D). I'd much rather rent a suite or apartment though... I'm not really comfortable with the idea of room-mates yet... =/ Sarah, come study up here; that would make my life so much easier at this point. XD
Bloody Vancouver. Why are you so expensive?
On the other hand, I'm at least registered for all my courses, despite a lot of fretting and convincing the Physics advisor to let me into a certain course and its (already full) tutorial. XD;; Erm, my timetable seems pretty insane. And there's a big chunk of running around that I'll have to do on Tues, Wed, Thurs which I'm not overly excited about. >.< But it's going to be fun! Physics, Bio, Chem, Math, and a Science communication course. All in one term! x____X;
It's symmetrical though! And that makes it all better. *g* But then term two is fluffy and I'm taking Theatre and... okay not so fluffy with 2 physics and a 4 day math course. ^^; I will get Thursday off though. >D
...I'm trying not to talk too much about all this since it's probably not all that interesting, though Twitter is getting most of it (sorry ^^;). This is all so new and a bit freaky and I tend to talk a lot in those situations.
This whole getting into Uni thing has been, as my mum put it, like an episode of the Three Stooges. *headdesk*
Oh, but hey!
Look at the pretty!!! ♥♥♥ *_*
Oh and this is fun.
I found what Rise-chan's been doing. She's at one of those "make your kids perfect by making them go to school an extra 4 hours/day" schools teaching, of all things, dance to 10+ year olds. This... amuses me greatly, since I never really though of her as a dancer. XD;;
Bard on the Beach is doing Antony and Cleopatra to very good reviews, as well as a concert version of La Bohème and I really want to go. @_@
