So today was another running day, and I've got to say, Flogging Molly's "Drunken Lullabies" has a great beat to it for a good strong run, with an energetic melody to keep one going as well. I wasn't quite able to keep that up the *whole* way, but a decent ways after that song was over and the next one started, and kept up a good pace. I really didn't think I could get into such a good rhythm with my cardio so quickly. I'm sure I'm still not as good as I was at my peak in high school, but I could be headed right back in that direction very quickly if I keep this up.
I should note that when I was younger and not quite good enough to win most of the road races I entered (most...I did come home with a few nice trophies) I decided that one of my goals was to stay in shape throughout my life even as other people started to taper off, partially for the health reasons but also in part to be one of those middle-aged or old guys who always wins in his age group. Yes, some day that will be me.
