[Painful memories, traumatic memories. In a way, reopening these old sounds is worse than Atia's usual games. She's hurt so many, revealed so many things meant to be kept personal, secret...]
[Ishida was struck, too, but his concern is hardly for himself; it's so much easier to attend to others than to do the same for himself, after all.]
Lenalee? You may want to avoid the network, if you haven't been already.
[It may be too late. Maybe she saw it. Maybe it played on a television near her. He can't know, but he has to try.]
[Private, Text]skycrossingSeptember 2 2011, 21:35:13 UTC
[it's been a few days since the curse started. after glimpsing at a couple scenes on the tv set, lenalee only visited the network to confirm her suspicions, but after that her device was left untouched, save for when others sent her private messages like ishida's.
she has not seen the display of her own memories yet but blissful ignorance doesn't last all that long, does it.]
Oh? Um, I kind of have... but what happened? What... should I not see?
[Private, Text]shiro_meganeSeptember 2 2011, 21:42:05 UTC
[He doesn't think she's seen his, and so much the better; his memories are painful, too, and it's better for her if she not worry about him more than she does already-- especiallynow that she's been struck, too.]
[Private, Text]skycrossingSeptember 2 2011, 23:05:18 UTC
[she takes a moment to check just what was shown. how much does it ultimately mean to her, learning her nightmares and her most haunting memory yet has been publicized without her consent?
surprisingly not too much. she can shrug off other people seeing it, they're all images she's resigned from, but seeing it replay that way will bother her for the rest of the day at least.
thank goodness for text.]
Oh, was that it? You're too nice, Ishida. It's okay. You can ignore it--you should. I will. It doesn't matter if other people see it. Not much can be done about it anyway.
[Private, Text]shiro_meganeSeptember 3 2011, 01:07:54 UTC
[Until now, when asked about his memories by those who have seen them, he simply answers by saying they were more difficult to survive than to relive (though perhaps that's never been as reassuring as he's been trying to be), but he doesn't want to tip Lenalee off to just how brutally violent his memories were-- particularly the second.]
It's nothing. [Without her having trained him yet against those words, her earlier admonitions are forgotten, for the moment.]
A touch, yes. I suppose it's for the best you didn't have to endure watching them.
[Private, Text]skycrossingSeptember 3 2011, 05:09:01 UTC
[she'll not scold him this time. she feels that he feels he's tense.]
I won't look. I won't pry where it's not wanted. What I will ask, though, is if you're all right after seeing them. Do you need to be alone or... would you like company later?
[Private, Text]shiro_meganeSeptember 3 2011, 05:17:12 UTC
... I've seen into your past. If you'd like to know... They aren't things I've ever told you, but you're one of the ones I trust enough that if the right questions were asked, I'd have told you those stories. You can, if you want to, watch them, or ask me to tell you what happened in my own words; it only seems fair. If you'd rather not know, that, too, is understandable. I caution that the second recording was... Violent. Graphic.
I appreciate the offer, but... Truthfully I'm more concerned about you and what you might need.
[Private, Text]skycrossingSeptember 3 2011, 05:28:15 UTC
I don't believe it's about being fair, but thank you for being so willing. I'll remain respectful of your memories. Mine are just... ghosts. You don't need to feel as though you've stumbled onto my deepest darkest secret, even though... hardly anyone knows what really happened--or happens in my mind. I'll be okay.
...but if I won't, I'll call you. You won't mind, right?
[Private, Text]shiro_meganeSeptember 3 2011, 05:33:51 UTC
[Careful, Lenalee. You just revealed to Ishida you have deeper, darker secrets. But that doesn't make these any less painful, and just as she respects hus privacy, he respects hers. He somehow doubts she'll ever share them-- but if she does need to, he'll do his best to support her.]
Of course I won't mind. It's a honor, to know you'd call on me, if you needed someone.
[Private, Text]skycrossingSeptember 6 2011, 03:15:34 UTC
[she totally just did but she's repelling too much to mind. his assurance trickles over her senses like cold water in a hollow cave, gentle and symbolic to life and humanity.]
Thank you. It would be an honor for me if you did the same. Friends--nakama help each other after all, right.
[Private, Text]shiro_meganeSeptember 6 2011, 23:43:00 UTC
['Nakama'.]
[His first real friends. the ones he fought beside-- the ones whose lives he saved... and who had saved his life in turn, more than once.]
[Even here, he had never been wholly without them... not until recently. He had been without them for a long time-- fifteen years, most of his life, and yet, now... now he feels their absence with a keenness that surprises even himself.]
[He wonders if it's the same for her.]
[But at the same time, her words remind him of something. Remind him that he has friends here, too, still. Not just friends, not just people who care about him-- but people he can truly regard as nakama, rare though they are. And, though it never occurred to him before she spoke just now...]
[She's one of them.]
[The thought brings a smile to his lips-- small, but genuine, far more genuine than he thought he could muster after all he had just seen of her past]
[Ishida was struck, too, but his concern is hardly for himself; it's so much easier to attend to others than to do the same for himself, after all.]

More of Atia's cruelty.

They... seemed like traumatic memories. I didn't want you to be caught unawares, or without a choice about reliving them.
