It's raining, it's pouring...

Worst storm our area's had in at least 35 years ripped through yesterday evening. Couldn't see anything out the windows, the rain was being blown against it so hard. High winds, hail, the works. The downstairs of our house flooded - good thing it's all tiled, so it wasn't too bad to clean up, and we didn't suffer any structural damage, at least. Trees and tree branches down everywhere, power's been out almost 24 hours, and it doesn't sound like it's coming back any time soon, either.

Local shopping centre has no power either, save for K-Mart and Coles who have their own emergency generators. I am amused, for some reason, by the fact that the first thing you see when you go into the K-Mart right now is a table set up with portable gas cookers, torches, and batteries. The rest of the centre's without power, no lights or anything, so all the small shops are closed, including my EBGames, which means no work for me today. In at school atm, so I can try to get some assignment work done. And so I can get online, but nevermind that part. ¬_¬

A house a few down from us got a tree through the roof, other houses got various amounts of flooding, and one of the guys at school had the back wall and roof of his house blown off. Dad's been busy with his chainsaw, not just on our place but on some of our neighbours' places as well. Nobody I know of has been hurt, at least.

The back carpark of my local shopping centre - that's all shadecloth that's been torn down by the storm.
