Hurricane Sandy Preparedness

Oct 28, 2012 15:06

All the porch furniture is inside, all of the trash cans are in the shed, two multipacks of bottled water are in the pantry as are plenty of nonperishable foodstuffs, the dog & cat food has been restocked, storm windows are closed, all electronics are as charged as they are gonna be, all other emergency gear is at the ready (though it always is, camping duffles are awesome like that), and all of the outdoor Halloween decorations have been taken down *sniffle*.

This might be the most prepared we have ever been for a hurricane.

Magus's classes have been canceled for the next two days, as have MOST of the schools in our county, and the neighboring ones. A majority of our local shops are also going to be closed (when you drive through the town you can see most of them have taped up their windows, just in case), and there is a better than average chance that my work will be closing down as well for a day or two. (And if not, I will probably just work from home, and save myself the possible hazard of driving into the city.)

Now that all the prep work is done, I think I'm going to stick a roaster chicken in the oven and play some video games. Since if we lose power, those will be two things I WON'T be able to do. (Suddenly, having an electric stove doesn't seem like such a good thing...)

Hope all is well with everyone else, and if you also happen to be in the path of this thing, please stay safe!

weather crazy man!
