That Thing Called Hockey

Apr 11, 2011 11:21

I know, I know. It's been MONTHS since I've talked about 'the Hockey' but that doesn't mean that it hasn't been going on, or that I haven't been paying attention, I just haven't been talking about it on here.

So, HOCKEY: My team is in the playoffs. *bounces* We managed to swing second seed, and snagged the Atlantic Division Title *jumps for joy*, DESPITE (with the exception of Saturday's game) playing like we've never seen ice or skates or pucks before the last week of the season. (Seriously, it's been painful. LET US TALK OF IT NO MORE. Clearly, the boys were taking a premature nap. We have a habit of doing that.)

Our first matchup of the playoff's is against the Buffalo Sabres this Thursday, who we've won two against and lost two against. (No, I am not comfortable with the fact that both those losses were in the most recent games we played against them - one of which was LAST WEEK. But I'm hopeful. Really, I am. *bites nails*)

After being a bit ticked earlier in the season when the team let our injured goalie Leighton go (because it really is insane to have three goalies, but I feel like with Leighton being injured and Boucher being half-incompetent, it really IS only like have two goalies when we have all three) , I was thrilled to hear that we were getting him back in time for for the playoffs (well, technically we had him back for the last two games, but he wasn't played, so that's neither here nor there). Still, I'm glad that Bob we'll be in the goal when we play on Thursday. He's been AMAZING this season, and he's earned it. (Yes, I am all on board with the whole 'In Bob We Trust' brigade. Kid's GOOD. I know that he let goals in on Saturday night and had to be pulled, but overall he has played incredibly well this season.)

And, I just have to mention it, because I can't help but be all mama-hen over our baby-Flyer (who happens to be from my neck of the woods), but JVR got his VERY FIRST HAT TRICK a couple weeks back against the Islanders. *is proud*

All in all I am going to say that I am 'cautiously optimistic' in regards to the playoffs this year. VERY cautiously optimistic. *continues to bite nails*

And even though it is completely unrelated, I feel like I still need to vent over the fact that I am bitter that we traded Gagne. BITTER. Seriously, if Tampa Bay ends up whooping our assess at some point during the playoffs, I'm going to feel like we deserve it. Dude, it's been a YEAR since he's been gone (well, not quite, but nearly). I should really be over this by now...
