has been making me want to dig my eyeballs out with rusty spoons lately. Anything to stop the horrid pain of excessive and ridiculous amounts of data entry and rush-rush-rushy-rush letters and reports. Seriously, a month ago I was on vacation, a week ago I was on holiday break, and right now, with the weekend finally here, all I can think of is: "how soon before I can take a mental health day?"
I've practically been overdosing on "Dragon Age: Origins" in my downtime as a decompression technique. Sometimes I play, and sometimes I watch Magus play with my finger on the wiki-search button for when he wants help.
Today I got to be a little sick with a sore throat, headache, and achy-stomach, PLUS I get to be a girl. Blech.
On the plus side, I had a VERY vivid dream the other morning, which has resulted in my working on an original story once again! Recently, I've had two story ideas that I've begun to outline, but haven't followed through with yet (one was a series of diary-styled tales, and another is a blog-newsletter story). I like both of those ideas, but they haven't grabbed me yet like this one. This one has resulted in my sitting down and developing character backgrounds and traits, outlining the mini-plot and an over-arcing plotline, working on universe specific history and information, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, tonight I have written over 2,000 words for it!
I am really enjoying this one. And I think that this one has a chance in hell of being completed in some way or form. Mostly, because I'm scaling back in scope from my last full out writing attempt, and going with a less is more approach. Also, because I think this would actually work best as a tv show, so my stories in the 'verse will likely be of the MOTW variety, with an over-arc plot to link them all together. Which means, I could (theoretically), finish one tale at a time while slowly advancing the real plot! I already have the "climax" of the first MOTW done, along with a few intro pages. This happies me!
Now, I mus go make tea. As my throat is screaming for something to make it feel better.
