So a lot of press being made about Wonder Woman's outfit change right now, and I kind of roll my eyes. First, because it's like falling for it hook line and sinker. "Hmm, I bet the mainstream press will go out of control if we do something to change the status quo of the five or six characters they can name." If I had some kind of diabolocal plan involving CNN cameraman, step one would be making Spider-Man fly or something in an inter company crossover.
I think secondly, there's always kind of a hypocrisy to it. Like, rubbereckers always act like a big deal a tradition is being killed; a tradition they have not been paying attention to in years. I guess it's kind of like the folks who said that if Conan O'Brien had gotten the response he did towards the end in the first place, he wouldn't have gotten fired. I don't think that's the exact situation, but a lot of times you hear complaints from people who just like knowing things are there, whether they consume it or not. I think if you haven't picked up a copy of Wonder Woman in years, there's only so much you can complain about what they're doing to the character (Alhough I suppose you can be like "Yeah, that costume is objectively ugly and won't make me pick it up")
Plus, anyone who knows anything about these stunts is aware there will be a snapback anyways.
