Nick loomed over the hall, a pout on his normally smiling face. Every time he heard someone squeal, "Leighanne! Let me see the ring!" he cringed. He took another sip of his cherry cola, grabbing a cherry by the stem and sucking on it while glancing in Brian's direction.
However, Brian wasn’t phased, not in the least. He just wrapped his arm around Leighanne's waist and flashed his famous smile, acting like the picture perfect party host, retelling the story about his proposal over and over again.
So this was Brian's way of ending it, throwing away all they'd had.
